Background

Levante is seeking to recruit a Field Researcher for a potential project in Cambodia. The research coordinator will join a small, specialized team with an established track record in the ASEAN region working with the client organization on an education (particularly early childhood education) project.

Role Description

Summary

The Field Researcher is a varied and challenging role, helping to deliver Levante’s research and consultancy projects on the ground. The Field Research Coordinator has responsibilities for organizing and undertaking high-quality data collection, preparing data for analysis, and representing Levante to clients and potential clients.

Roles & Responsibilities

Field Co-ordination & Logistics:

Recruiting and managing data collection teams
Training of data collection teams (in principles of social research, ethics, specifics to projects)
Liaising with client focal points, local partners, community committees, community leaders, and other stakeholders
Organizing logistical arrangements for data collection – including transport, accommodation, necessary materials

Data Collection:

Conducting in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions with stakeholders at all levels

Data Management & Analysis:

Cleaning and coding datasets in preparation for analysis and report writing
Carrying out basic data analysis and processing

Translation/Interpretation:

Translating data collection tools (surveys, interviews)
Translating collected data (interview transcripts, survey responses)

Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
Demonstrated experience in using a rights-based approach to research and evaluation
Demonstrated experience working on pre-primary and early childhood education projects
Extensive experience working with children and young people, particularly in rural settings
Knowledge of English and Khmer is a must

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of the existing legal frameworks on qualitative Community-based Pre-Schools (CPS)
Experience engaging with high-level government education stakeholders (including the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports) and pre-primary education actors in Cambodia
Experience engaging with community-based pre-school stakeholders including district education officers, commune councils, management committees, and village committees
Ability to travel within Cambodia (to the provinces)
