Our UK operations are growing rapidly, with over 140 professional staff providing process engineering, civil engineering, energy, environmental, international development consultancy, and project management services to a variety of clients.

Due to increasing project commissions and appointments, we are seeking to appoint a full-time experienced Project Engineer who will be responsible for delivering projects within NIRAS for our customers predominantly in the food industry, while also providing leadership to other Project Engineers in the team. This role would suit a candidate who can demonstrate a reasonable amount of high quality time-served or a candidate with a Chemical Engineering degree. About the job

Building a thorough understanding of the full process design scope
Leading an engineering team where required; providing guidance, support, and coaching
Comprehensive design capability including QA verification and/or approval
Supporting the department in maintaining standards and improving procedures where possible
Collaborating with colleagues to actively promote NIRAS’s strategic aims – Sustainability, Digitalisation, and Project Excellence
Developing process and instrumentation diagram (P&ID), and accompanying User Requirement Specification(URS)
Effectively applying the Company’s methodology and project standards, actively engaging in quality assurance procedures
Overseeing and approving the physical design and positioning of equipment
PDI/FAT of equipment and systems at suppliers or clients premises
Costing and monitoring of cost control as directed by the Project Manager
Full site liaison, installation, and commissioning support
Assisting with the preparation of tender documents
Creating and implementing project plans, and reviewing as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements, ensuring that deliverables are achievable
Assisting with the commissioning of the project at the implementation stage
Ensuring the Project Manager is fully appraised of the status of the engineering function at all times
Ensuring timely communication to all relevant stakeholders e.g. Senior Management team, Clients and project team
Liaising with Clients, managing their expectations whilst meeting their needs and attaining the project’s goals
Managing your own time and output to achieve agreed targets and deadlines
Identifying business development and “add on” sales opportunities as they relate to specific projects
Ensuring project documentation is complete, current, and stored appropriately
Providing engineering contribution to, or managing fully, FEED/Design Studies etc
Reacting promptly and effectively to changing client and project needs
Anticipating project risks, identifying and establishing corrective actions

About you

Significant experience working within the food and beverage process industry
The skill to develop process and instrumentation diagram (P&ID), and accompanying User Requirement Specification(URS)
Strong client facing and interaction skills
Good understanding of key principles of contract management
The willingness to actively develop junior or less experienced colleagues
Ability to facilitate and present to groups of people
Skills to demonstrate commitment to company and client standards
Ability to promote a culture of continuous innovation and improvement
An enquiring mind and a willingness to learn
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
A UK driving license

What we offer you

A starting salary of circa £50,000-£55,000 per annum, depending on experience, with the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis, or based from any of our UK offices depending on your preference.
