Overview:

The purpose of the Somalia Monitoring & Learning Project (SMLP) is to gather and provide independent, verifiable, primary data to USAID’s Bureau on Humanitarian Assistance, and its partners regarding the outputs, outcomes, progress, quality, challenges, successes and lessons learned from activities funded by BHA in Somalia.  The primary task of SMLP to establish an independent, impartial third-party monitoring (TPM) system to verify and provide independent confirmation of humanitarian programs in Somalia funded by BHA.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

IBTCI requires a consultant to provide support across departments on IBTCI’s Somalia Monitoring and Learning Project (SMLP). This support includes:

  • Monitoring Report Support
  • Support team to review site visit reports (SVRs) from report writers and work with Monitoring Specialist and Reporting Specialist to consolidate into a Monitoring Report.
  • Provide analysis on SVRs to determine trends and new information that should be highlighted in upcoming Monitoring Report.
  • Provide support to team in data searches and analysis in response to comments from USAID/BHA on past and current Monitoring Reports and contribute as needed to address their feedback.  
  • Data Quality Assessment (DQA) Support
  • Provide support to COP, or his designee, and team in restructuring the DQA reports as needed.
  • Provide support in revising and responding to feedback on draft DQA individual implementing partner (IP) reports and the consolidated DQA report.
  • Provide support to COP and team in data searches and analysis from DQA inputs and reports to respond to comments from USAID/BHA on the DQA.   
  • Learning Deliverables Support
  • Provide support to Learning Specialist and team on specific requests for analysis to inform input for the Final Option Year Learning Report .
  • Provide support to team in preparations for the SMLP Annual Learning Event, including working with the team to conduct analysis for SMLP presentations, develop materials for the event, and support event planning tasks as needed.  
  • Final Presentation Support
  • Support the team with specific data searches and analysis from to inform inputs into the final presentation at the end of September.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Fluency in English with a proven ability write succinctly, quickly and coherently to produce high-quality written reports for USAID.
  • At least two years of experience with monitoring and evaluation or report writing for USAID-funded programs as either a staff member of a consultant.
  • Ability to work quickly and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines and prioritize work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respond to requests in a timely manner.

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs, Economics, Business /Business Administration, English or related field.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. This position will be supervised by the Chief of Party or his designee.

Travel: No travel will be required for this position.

Work Authorization:  Candidate must be authorized to work in Kenya
