Introduction:

Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Financial Analyst is responsible for analysis and reconciliations within the Finance group as well as reporting and analytical support at the project and corporate level.

Responsibilities of the position include, but may not be limited to:

Review and approve finance-related project documentation, including grant applications, thereby increasing accuracy and mitigating risk to the organization;
Participate in financial business casing on projects/initiatives to ensure all financial requirements are met and understood;
Prepare timely and effective project reports;
Prepare analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts as required;
Complete month end entries as required;
Prepare timely and effective management reports to enhance business decision-making;
Review contracts for any component that requires invoicing or financial reporting;
Assist with budget preparation, tracking and variances analysis;
Work and meet with project manager(s) to track and prepare reports on project spending as required;
Assist with Accounts Receivable functions as required;
Assist with month end and the year-end audit by preparing reconciliations, samples and responding to any inquiries by auditors;
Assist with project database administration;
Continually seek ways to improve business processes to ensure efficient operations;
Act as back up to the Financial Analyst (A/R) and Finance Coordinator (A/P) roles;
Work with Director, Finance to ensure that financial goals and requirements are met and understood throughout the organization;
Other duties as may be assigned within the scope of this position.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

University degree is preferred with advanced placement in the CPA program
A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience;
Experience in the health care field or other not-for-profit environments is an asset
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment;
Proficient in the use of MS Office and computerized accounting software;
Intermediate / advance level Excel skills;
Knowledge and/or experience utilizing ERP systems (SAP) is an asset;
Knowledge and/or experience utilizing QuickBooks is an asset;
Quick learner;
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
