Description

The consulting services under this assignment involve the consultancy services for the development of a national strategy and implementation framework for bulk water supply.

The assignment shall involve the following key activities:

  1. a) Conduct a detailed desk-study assessment of the existing safe water supply situation in Uganda (both rural and urban areas) and thus, determination of the existing demand gap for universal safe water access.
  2. b) Assessment of the potential ground and surface water resources to meet the current and future demand of safe water supply through bulk water transfer.
  3. c) Assessment of appropriate water supply infrastructure options for bulk water supply for universal safe water access in Uganda.
  4. d) Development of an investment, financing, implementation and operation strategy for bulk water supply for universal safe water access in Uganda.
  5. e) Pre-feasibility assessment of four selected bulk water supply projects in Uganda (Eastern, Northern, Western and Central Uganda).

The assignment is expected to be executed over a period of 12 (Twelve Months)

The requested Team leader must have the following profile:

The Team Leader shall be a Registered Engineer with Uganda Engineers Registration Board or equivalent.

He/She will be the Consultants' representative (and should be empowered to take decisions on behalf of the Consultants) and coordinate the Services. He/she will be available during the implementation of activities when critical decisions are expected to be taken or issues to be resolved. Should have a Master's Degree in Civil/ Water/ Environmental/ Sanitary/Hydraulic/Irrigation Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience. The proposed Team Leader should have 10 years of experience planning and implementing water supply infrastructure. The Team Leader should have demonstrated experience in leadership and management of at least 5 similar multi-disciplinary programmes.
