He/She/they have thematic knowledge/past experience with nutrition sensitive and/or nutrition specific interventions, agro-processing, Value-Chain development and market oriented agriculture; experience with applied research programmes in agriculture and food production would be an advantage.

Qualifications required:
University Degree minimum MSc. level (Agricultural economics, Agricultural Sciences, Rural Development, Food & agricultural policies, Health and Nutrition policies, Statistical Sciences or equivalent). - Experience / capacity to interact and communicate with rural households, communities, and local authorities; - Good facilitation and negotiation skills; Sound knowledge of monitoring & evaluation methodologies, tools (data collection and analysis) and good practices; - Pro-activity, organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks according to deadlines; - Result-orientation and team work approach. - Local expertise would be an advantage. - Gender balance at all levels, is recommended.

Professional experience required:
Proven experience with the project cycle management (identification, formulation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation), logical framework approach, and backstopping of rural / agriculture, food & nutrition programmes; - Familiarity with the analysis of food systems, their resilience and sustainability, food quality, safety frameworks and diet diversification; - Familiarity with nutrition, gender, climate change mainstreaming in rural development programmes. - Strong monitoring & evaluation competences and cumulative experience substantiated by at least 6 successfully completed intervention-level or strategic evaluations; this includes the capacity to adapt and use quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis. - Experience in the evaluation of food and nutrition security interventions will be considered an asset. - Knowledge and past experience with nutrition sensitive and/or nutrition specific interventions (at least 3 assignments). - Experience with agriculture value chain development, V-C approach for development and V-C functional analysis, support to the private sector, agro-processing, and market oriented agriculture (at least 2 assignments). - Experience with applied research programmes in agriculture and food production will be an advantage, as well as experience with humanitarian interventions addressing child malnutrition and nutrition sensitive safety net programs. - Previous working experience in the Horn of Africa / Ethiopia will be considered an asset.
