Job description
Marine plastic pollution, and the damage it causes to our global ecosystem, have reached critical levels. There are already approximately 150 million tonnes of plastics circulating in the oceans and this is increasing by between 8 and 12 million tonnes per year. With Asia as the epicenter of this pollution crisis, solutions which can address marine pollution in this region are critical to protecting the marine environment from further damage, restoring the damage already inflicted and securing long term, sustainable economic growth from the marine ecosystems.

ADB has committed $5 billion under its Healthy Oceans Action Plan with Operational Pillar 3 furthering ADB’s commitments to sustainable, environmental development for its Developing Member Countries (DMC’s). Technical Assistance (TA) Cluster Project TA 0044: Promoting Action on Plastic Pollution from Source to Sea in Southeast Asia and the Pacific is a key element of ABD’s commitment working with Viet Nam, Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand. This TA covers a wide range of activities focusing on marine plastics pollution, ocean health and circular economy solutions to help address the management of plastics in the value chain and reduce their pollution of the environment.

Within the TA cluster are two primary activities, TA Subproject 1: Enhancing Knowledge and Creating Enabling Environments for Reducing Marine Plastic Pollution is a knowledge focused activity which has paved the way for the practical implementation of TA Subproject 2: Prioritizing and Implementing Actions to Reduce Marine Plastic Pollution.

TA Subproject 2 aims to deliver practical activities to support participating DMC’s in delivering their commitments to reduce marine plastic pollution. At a fundamental level these deliverables include city level plastic management actions plans, capacity building for local government units and support for policy and regulatory development. TA Subproject 2 has also secured significant funding for the development and integration of high-level technology solutions into the management of plastic and the reduction of marine plastic pollution.

Main goal
Seureca is looking for an expert experienced in all aspects of circular economy development and optimization who already has :

-Demonstrated skills in effective relationship management and government, stakeholder, and community engagement. 

-Successfully worked as a team leader and project manager on similar projects in Southeast Asia. 

-Knowledge of circular plastics economy principles and approaches.

What we look for in your profile
Master’s degree or higher in materials science, life cycle assessment or other relevant recycling/circular economy or environmental subjects.

Minimum 10 years of expererience.
