Description

The American Bar Association-Rule of Law Division is seeking a Finance Officer for it’s finance division. The Finance Officer reviews accounting transactions pertinent to travel for DC staff, consultants, legal specialists, and vendors before being charged to awards and ensures compliance with grantor, government or private entities, and appropriate rules, regulations, and/or award provisions. Processes vendor invoices, timesheets, in charge of journalizing transactions, reclassifications, corrections, cost allocations.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Reviews staff travel expense reports and credit card transactions.
  • Review and process expense reports for DC staff, Country Directors, Legal Specialists, and Contractors.
  • Submits incoming invoices for payment and performs reclassification of invoices.
  • Processes allowances for international resident staff.
  • Creates and requests purchase order requisitions for US and Non-US vendors, sub-grantees, and Independent Contractors on as needed basis.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable procurement policies and proper allocation of costs for purchases.
  • Provides finance-related support to staff and volunteers posted internationally.
  • Assists in the preparation and completion of audits.
  • Identifies and investigates erroneous charges and oversees corrections.
  • Credit card reconciliation of air ticket purchases.
  • Prepare monthly or bi-monthly travel reports, collects invoices, itineraries, FAA waivers, business class approvals, exceptions, follow up with program staff on documenting travel, prepare the allocation.
  • Provide trainings on systems (Chrome River, Oracle iProcurement/Purchase Orders).
  • Provide support and guidance to staff and third-party vendors on travel reimbursements, policies and procedures, Chrome River reporting.
  • Provide support to International Field Accounting team with reconciliations, monthly clearing of the holding account.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Required Education, Qualifications, Experience

- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience in finance or accounting is required.

- Intermediary skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word are required.

Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience

- Previous experience in award administration.

- Previous experience in financial and/or ERP software solutions.
