IESC is recruiting for an Associate, New Business to support our passionate new business team based in the Washington, DC headquarters of IESC. As our associate, you will be assisting with developing solicited and unsolicited proposals, expressions of interest (EOI), and concept papers, and you will be providing technical and administrative support to the IESC new business team while interacting with various internal and external stakeholders. You may be requested to travel up to 5% of the time. 

Specific Responsibilities include:

General Business Development

  • Provide day-to-day support on new business development activities;
  • Perform daily checks of procurement sites and transmit notice summaries to staff;
  • Support the preparations of EOIs, one-pagers, and marketing materials;
  • Contribute to NB process improvement, including developing new tools and trackers;

Capture and Proposal Development

  • Serve as proposal coordinator for proposals;
  • Support proposal recruitment, including formatting CVs, participating in interviews, and verifying biodatas;
  • Draft corporate capabilities sections and past performance references (PPRs), and revise org charts, implementation plans, and other proposal documents;
  • Collect proposal documents from subcontractors/subrecipients and ensure proper filing;
  • Assist with the review, editing, and compilation of proposals;
  • Support cost proposal development, including the review of budget narratives and collating Section K documents;
  • Support the preparation of reconnaissance trips;
  • Participate in reconnaissance trips if requested;

Research and Market Analysis

  • Conduct market opportunity, country, competitor, and commercial sector research and analysis to help create and develop new programs;
  • Complete day-to-day monitoring of business opportunities;
  • Research capture information and upload info to appropriate database systems;
  • Facilitate the completion of Go/No-Go opportunity reviews;

Administrative Support

  • Review and reconcile expense reports of new business consultants;
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings and take notes;
  • Assist with the maintenance of SharePoint records;
  • Assist with the orientation of new hires for the NB team;
  • Facilitate travel arrangements for staff and consultants traveling on recon trips, provide monthly updates to IESC’s travel insurance provider, and inform IESC’s security advisor;
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of business development trainings;
  • Assist with new business invoice payments; and

Outreach

  • Attend industry and sector events related to business development and IESC’s program areas as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus one to two years related work experience or M.A. in international affairs, international business administration, economics or related field;
  • Previous office environment work experience;
  • Strong research capabilities;
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, thorough and well organized;
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to support and engage with individuals from a variety of backgrounds both in the U.S. and abroad;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Understanding of accounting principles and demonstrated financial management and analysis skills;
  • Experience and proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe/Foxit, SharePoint, and other software;
  • Exceptional organizational, follow through, and time management skills, and ability to prioritize among multiple competing requests;
  • Fluency in English required; Proficiency in other languages is a plus;
  • Experience with USAID, USDA, or other donors is a plus.
