Team Leader (Senior Highway Engineer) - International

Team Leader (Senior Highway Engineer) International : Master’s degree in civil engineering, 20 years of professional experiences preferred, 15 years of experience in planning, preparation and design of highway projects and 5 years as Team Leader is preferred.

Project Background:

The Government of Bangladesh (GoB) signed a loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) (Loan 6030-BAN) for implementing the Road Transport Connectivity Improvement Project Preparatory Facility. The Facility is envisaged to develop future investment projects for strengthening of the road network of the country and thus enhancing sub-regional and cross border connectivity.

Earlier, the GoB with financing from ADB undertook feasibility study and detailed designs for 1,752 km roads which had been completed in 2015 under Subregional Road Transport Project Preparatory Facility (SRTPPF). Subsequently, the GoB in assistance with the ADB has also completed the 2nd phase of the feasibility study and detailed designs for another 590 km of roads under Sub-regional Road Transport Project Preparatory Facility-II (SRTPPF-II) with a target to ensure the sub-regional connectivity of this region by undertaking feasible road investment projects in the near future. Loan 6030-BAN is a continuation of the GoB’s plan to prepare the project readiness documents targeted towards further development of the existing road network Bangladesh. With a view to achieve this, the project scope includes feasibility study, detailed engineering designs, preparation of safeguard documents and procurement documents etc.

The Roads and Highways Department (RHD), Bangladesh will use a portion of Loan 6030-BAN to engage a consulting firm (the Consultant) for this service package [SVC-P2 (CS-02)] to prepare detailed engineering designs, safeguard documents and procurement documents for the selected investment projects which are required to be implemented to enhance road transport connectivity of the country and the region. 

Objective:

The objective of this assignment is –

(1) To prepare detailed engineering designs, safeguard documents and procurement documents of the defined roads/sub-projects for readiness of the projects’ investment and implementation;
(2) To prepare climate resilient road/bridge designs, particularly the southern region road/bridge designs shall have resistance to costal disaster;
(3) To prepare detailed designs considering multimodal transport facility enhancement; and
(4) To prepare detailed designs for road safety enhancement.
