FuelsEurope is looking for a Policy Executive to join their team in Brussels to coordinate its advocacy activities related to Automotive Fuels, Heating, Aviation and Maritime and others.
Who are we?

The European Fuel Manufacturers Association (based in Brussels) currently represents the interests of 38 companies manufacturing fuels and other products in the EU. The Association comprises two divisions:

FuelsEurope represents the EU fuels & industrial value chains products manufacturing industry in the policy debate with EU Institutions and other stakeholders, providing an expert opinion on the production process, distribution and use of our industry’s products, in order to contribute to a regulatory framework that:
Promotes EU excellence in technologies contributing to the energy transition towards society’s climate goals;
Boosts sustainable development through supporting a competitive EU industry;
Establishes effective, technically feasible and sustainable requirements to protect human health and the environment.
Concawe whose mission is to conduct research programmes to provide impartial scientific information in order to improve scientific understanding of the environmental health, safety and economic performance aspects of both fuels’ manufacturing and the distribution and sustainable use of fuels; Assist the development of cost- effective policies and legislation by EU institutions and Member States; Allow informed decision making and cost-effective legislative compliance by Association members.

What would be your activities?

Coordination of the Association’s activities (FuelsEurope division) related to following European issues, handled by one or more Working Groups:
Automotive Fuels;
Heating, Aviation and Maritime fuels, and other refinery products (e.g. lubricants);
Any other related issues as necessary and as assigned by the FuelsEurope Director.
The coordination of activities mentioned under point 1 include:
Analysis, organization, management and reporting of the issues handled by the relevant working group;
Facilitating and coordinating Member Companies participation to the different issues;
Establish and execute advocacy plans for the individual issues;
Ensure Member Companies are kept up-to-date on the evolution on covered issues;
Define and help in executing the appropriate communication on important issues.
Ensure coherence of the activities of the responsible issue groups with other FuelsEurope groups via internal meeting;
Actively engage within the advocacy and the communication team for the purpose of achieving the Association’s objectives and of contributing to a supportive working atmosphere;
Cooperating with Concawe on overlapping or interlinked issues;
Coordinate and involve where necessary the work and issues with the National Fuel Industry Associations;
Ensure coordination and enable new areas of cooperation with other Associations on regular basis:
Examples of relevant associations are Cefic, FETSA, UPEI, EUROFUEL, ACEA, e-fuel Alliance, eurogas, ECSA, Airlines4Europe and others as necessary and appropriate.
Keep being informed on the issues of interest handled by BusinessEurope;
Representing the Association in conferences, stakeholders' meetings and participates in a variety of activities organised by the EU Institutions and other relevant EU and global bodies;
Gaining an in-depth knowledge of the EU and other relevant institutions decision-making processes related to the technical issues in the areas of interest, including an active monitoring of related international activities at both ICAO and IMO level;
Contribute to the development of the FuelsEurope Management Plan by ensuring support of the working groups on the items and their proposed priority;
Development and maintaining contacts with the members of the European Institutions (Commission, Parliament and Council) as well as with other stakeholders in relation to the areas of interest;
Complying with the governance rules (operational guidelines, anti-trust, legal compliance and safety) of the Association and ensure that the Working Groups are aware of these rules and comply with the rules.

What is your professional profile?
Key requirements:

Experience and a proven track record in a Member Company, in the fuel manufacturing industry, in the auto-industry, or in European Institutions;
Sound knowledge of European fuel and/or transport related policies;
Excellent team player with proven experience in coordination and/or management of working groups.

Other requirements:

University graduate with strong interest in politics, institutional affairs;
Good knowledge of the EU institutional procedures;
Highly organized individual;
Good negotiation skills and a sense of diplomacy;
Good communication skills, both verbal and written;
Ability to perform in multi-task environment;
Good command of the English language; an additional language would be an advantage;
Excellent PC skills (MS Outlook; Word; Power Point; Excel; etc.).

Organisational Fit: Reports to the FuelsEurope Director

The position is based in Brussels (Belgium).
