SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT

The Kemitraan Indonesia Australia untuk Infrastruktur Performance Based Grant (KIAT PBG) Activity aims to advance the Government of Indonesia’s prioritization of increased access to clean water for residents across the country by improving the performance and sustainability of local government owned water utilities (PDAMs). The project aims to test and illustrate the effectiveness of a Performance Based Grant mechanism in stimulating tangible performance and service delivery improvements among PDAMs across seven key performance indicators and four key themes. The project also has a focus on equipping PDAMs to create more inclusive environments for women, men and people with disabilities.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

The National specialist will work under the under the direction of the International CC and DRM Specialist to assist the PDAMs in their efforts in accounting for risks associated with CC and natural disasters to ensure climate resilient services provided by the PDAMs. This will be done by supporting participating PDAMs in preparing a CC and DRM assessment and roadmap that delineates plans to identify risk based and DRM and CC adaptation strategies to ensure preparedness for expected effects of potential natural disasters and CC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fully familiarize his/her self with the WSP concept and implementation in BUMD Air Minum (PDAM).
  • Fully familiarize his/her self with the PBG Project Management Manual (PMM).
  • Provide orientation sessions in CC and DRM as pertains to PDAM operations and water supply services.
  • Preparing a CC and DRM response plan for PDAMs including short term and long term adaptation strategies all as detailed in the PMM..
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and benchmarking exercises between the participating PDAMs as part of the project closure meetings. 
  • Assist with the preparations for verification and grant disbursement.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

·         University degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering

·         Minimum of 8 years experience in Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team
