MAPS is a non-profit and non-governmental organization registered in Germany, Lebanon, and Türkiye. MAPS aims to empower and build the capacity of the Syrian and Arab Refugee communities in Lebanon, Türkiye, and IDPs inside Syria to enable them to thrive in their current context and contribute to rebuilding Syria after the conflict; through different sectors: education, health, relief, livelihood, innovation, and capacity building.
About the role
The Information Management Assistant, under the supervision of the MEAL department, plays a critical role in data collection, management, and reporting. This position supports the organization in maintaining accurate and up-to-date data, enabling evidence-based decision-making and improving program effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Data Collection and Entry: Assist in the collection and entry of data related to program activities, beneficiaries, and project indicators. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data collected.
- Data Management: Organize and maintain program data, ensuring it is stored securely and can be easily accessed when needed. Regularly update databases and information systems.
- Data Analysis: Assist in basic data analysis tasks, such as generating reports and data visualization. Contribute to the preparation of routine data reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in data quality assessments and validation exercises. Identify and report data quality issues to the MEAL department.
- Documentation: Maintain documentation related to data collection and management processes. Archive data as per organization's data retention policies.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to field staff on data collection tools and methods. Assist in resolving data-related issues and questions from field teams.
- Reporting: Contribute to the generation of regular and ad-hoc reports based on program data. Collaborate with the MEAL department to ensure data is presented accurately and effectively.
- Data Security: Maintain data security and confidentiality, adhering to data protection and privacy protocols.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the MEAL department and other relevant departments to ensure data needs are met. Support in the integration of data into program planning and decision-making.
Position Requirements
- Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology Engineering, or another related field
- 1 - 2 years experience in MEAL is preferable.
- Minimum of one year in SQL Server, MySQL
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to make difficult concepts easy to understand.
- Excellent data handling skills (classification, categorizing, tabulation etc.) and demonstrates diligence in data management and analysis.
- Good knowledge of information presentation techniques (graphing, charting, tabling etc.) and interpreting them.
- The ability to work on one of the data analysis programs (SPSS, STATA or Excel and Power Bi)
- Strong level of computer skills (Windows, MS Office, etc.) and ideally an understanding of data and database management.
- Native in Arabic & Intermediate level in English skills, oral and written.
