The Simiyu Climate Resilience Project (SCRP) is financed by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the German Government through KfW as well as the Government of Tanzania. The Ministry of Water (MoW) acts as Project Executing Agency (PEA) and will be implemented by the consortia GITEC (Lead Partner)-Sachsen Wasser-Galaxy Consultants until 9th august 2025.
The SCRP has the objective to increase the climate resilience of rural and urban households, particularly small-scale farmers and women living in the Simiyu Region, and to improve policies and regulations for cross-sectoral action towards climate change adaptation. The SCRP is divided into five main components: Component 1 (enabling environment) and 5 (project management): Refining mechanisms for implementation of adaptation activities, pursuing a community driven approach, Capacity development; Component 2: Improving water supply infrastructure; Component 3: Improving agricultural practices; and, Component 4: Improving sanitation services.
The framework of this consultancy falls under component 3: Improved community resilience through application of climate-adapted agriculture practices.
The Agricultural Expert is responsible for the good planning and guidance of activities developed under the Component 3. He provides technical guidance in all agricultural topics, and describes the roles and responsibilities of staff and stakeholders involved in this component. He provides support and advice in coordination to the team leader and to the project management unit (PMU) for all issues and tasks related to component 3 (agriculture and forestry sectors).

The project has already started (2020). The present assignment is estimated to start by the second week of December 2023 until the end of the project implementation (Sep/Ago 2025). The experts is expected to receive approx. 6 man-months.
