Short-term assignment:
Develop and implement a training module on work-readiness for career guidance counsellors in Egypt
Internationaler Bund e.V. (IB) together with IHK-Projektgesellschaft Ostbrandenburg gGmbH (Chamber of Commerce) has been implementing a Partner Africa project on behalf of the BMZ in Egypt since December 2022. The project “Skills4Trends” is commissioned by sequa gGmbH and will run until the end of 2025. The project aims to promote together with two Egyptian partner organisations decent work and employment through training geared to future technological labour market trends and needs, incubation and partnerships with companies in the northern and Delta regions of Egypt.
For the implementation of the project on site, IB is looking for a qualified short-term expert (STE) (individual consultant or team of experts) with experience in career guidance counselling for job seekers and in developing and providing work-readiness training to career guidance counsellors.
The objectives of this short-term assignment are to support the Skills4Trends project team and the two Egyptian partner organisations in:
a) Developing a modern work readiness training module for career guidance counsellors taking into account emerging occupational trends
b) Training career guidance counsellors in the provision of work readiness counselling for job seekers
Scope of the assignment:
· To develop the concept and methodology for a work readiness programme to be applied to job seekers on emerging occupational trends in Egypt.
· To develop a training module on work readiness for career guidance counsellors to be applied to job seekers (general counselling including counselling on emerging occupational trends in Egypt).
· To develop a training manual and training materials for career guidance counsellors.
· To implement the training module for career guidance counsellors.
· To coach career guidance counsellors in the implementation of the work readiness programme.
· To evaluate the effectiveness of the training module.
The work readiness training shall target approximately 40 career guidance counsellors from the Egyptian partner associations and other affiliated organisations in the project region.
Eligibility criteria:
The assignment will be awarded on a fee basis within the framework of a call for tenders. The following award criteria will be taken into account, whereby all eligibility criteria must be met:
· Relevant university degree in the following areas: career development, human resource management, organizational psychology, or a related discipline
· Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in career counselling, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), employment promotion, training, and education.
· Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in designing and implementing training programmes on career guidance, counselling and work readiness.
· Strong understanding of adult learning principles and effective teaching methodologies.
· Demonstrated ability to structure content, create learning objectives, and design engaging learning experiences.
· Extensive experience in labour market dynamics, and emerging occupational trends, preferably in Egypt or similar contexts.
· Familiarity with the specific needs and challenges faced by job seekers in the Northern and Delta regions of Egypt.
Award criteria:
· Demonstrated success in similar projects involving the development and delivery of training programmes for job counsellors.
· Strong knowledge of up-and-coming technologies and their impact on the job market.
· Prior working experience in the context of international development cooperation.
· Fluent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
· Experience in providing career guidance to disadvantages persons would be an asset.
· Fee rate per working day (price).
Scope of services:
· Implementation period is from 01.01.2024 until 01.10.2024
· A total of up to 36 working days will be awarded
· The place of performance is Egypt
