Procurement and Contract Expert (Medical Equipment & FIDIC)

We are a Consultancy Firm (www.politecnica.it) seeking, for a works supervision tender: an experienced Procurement and Contract Expert (Medical Equipment & FIDIC) to join our Supervision Team for a hospital construction project (20.000 sq.mts, 140 beds) in a Caribbean Island (West Indies). The successful candidate will oversee the Procurement of med.equipment and other non consulting services within the Hospital Construction project, on behalf of the Employer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Procurement of Medical Supplies and FIDIC conditions of contract in construction projects. The Expert will respond to the Consultant's Team Leader. Working language: English.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement Strategy for Goods and non consulting services: Specializes in developing procurement strategies, managing the acquisition of a wide variety of goods/non consulting services essential for the project, ensuring alignment with project objectives and compliance standards.

2. Vendor Selection and Contractual Management: Leads the vendor selection process, support negotiation of contracts, and maintains robust supplier relationships. Support managing the execution of contracts, focusing on adherence to specified terms and project timelines.

3. Integration and Strategic Reporting: Operates under the Team Leader. Offers strategic advice on procurement and contract issues and provides regular updates.

A.Education

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Management, or a related field.
• Specialized training in public procurement, dispute resolution, and procurement of works and goods under World Bank and other donor-funded projects.

B. General Experience

• Professional registration with a relevant body is preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement of civil works and medical equipment.
• Proven expertise in managing contracts for the supply and installation of medical equipment.
• In-depth experience in managing FIDIC contracts.

C.Specific Experience:

• Involvement in at least two construction projects in the health sector within the last 10 years.
• Experience in implementing infrastructure projects using FIDIC Conditions of Contract (Red Book).
• Solid background in procurement as per World Bank or other donor organizations' regulations and guidelines.
• Proficiency in dispute and litigation management.

Contract Terms:

• Freelance contract with benefits package and medical insurance.
• Project duration: 24 months.
• 8 person-months of time input during the Proejct: part-time in the Capital of the Island and part time home

Fluency in English (written, spoken, read) is essential.
