Grants and Contracts Manager*

in Bangui 

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Bangui, Central African Republic, with frequent travel to project locations in the country.

Welthungerhilfe (WHH) was established in the Central African Republic (CAR) in 2014 in response to the crisis in the country. In recent years, interventions in agriculture have remained the focus of WHH's projects in the country. WHH is leading a consortium of 3 INGOs (WHH, Concern Worldwide and Tearfund) to implement a 5-year EU-funded project focusing on agricultural recovery and development in 9 prefectures of the Central African Republic. As Grants and Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the consortium project's compliance with donor requirements and regulations as well as project-related external and internal communications. You will be responsible for the supervision and guidance of the consortium members and implementing partners' contractual obligations, communication with the donor and project related public relations.

Your responsibilities

Compliance

  • Contribute to the strengthening of the quality of grant and project management and to the capacity building of stakeholders and partners

  • Ensure partner compliance with WHH and donor standards and policies

  • Act as a focal point for donor compliance and conduct trainings/coaching sessions on grants for Head of Projects/Deputy Head of Projects and other operational staff 

Management & Coordination

  • Liaise with key stakeholders and donors and participate in coordination summits

  • Steer the process of grants monitoring in coordination with key stakeholders within the country programme

  • Support project management with partner assessments, partner monitoring, project filings and donor reporting

Programme development

  • Contribute to the identification of co-financing opportunities to further diversify donor funding

  • Develop expertise in donor strategies and facilitate the roll-out of projects, ensuring that the country programme complies with donors´ and Welthungerhilfe's strategies, procedures and requirements

  • Identify lessons learned from projects and ensure best practices are shared with WHH CAR and its partners

Reporting and communication

  • Ensure that partners meet donor requirements for reporting and documentation and organize support where needed

  • Support the Head of Consortium in writing external reports, editing, compiling comments and ensuring compliance with donor and WHH requirements

  • Archive key documents such as reports, relevant email communications with donors, consortium partners and WHH headquarters

  • Ensure high quality and timely reports that meet donor and WHH requirements and incorporate mainstreaming issues such as gender and inclusion

Your profile

  • A university or college degree in international development or another field relevant to the position

  • Sound experience in understanding donor regulations for reporting and proposal development (EU mainly and other donors)

  • Experience with aspects of proposal development, reporting, project management and/or MEAL

  • Advanced knowledge in MS Word and Excel as well as cloud-based information management

  • Strong personal management skills, ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure, as well as good communication skills

  • A high level of mental and physical resilience and a willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult settings

  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe's programme countries

  • Excellent spoken and written English and French; knowledge of German would be an asset
