Functional responsibilities


Under the general supervision of the Support Service Senior Associate, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services and clerical support ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

The Driver provides driving services to the staff in the office, Consultants and Experts and UNOPS staff on mission. The incumbent will also provide clerical support services inside and outside the office.

The incumbent of this post is responsible for the following duties:

  • Ensuresprovision of reliable and secure driving servicesby

a) driving office vehicles for the transport of authorised personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items and

b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport.

  • Ensurescost-savings through proper use of vehiclethrough accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs for the preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.

  • Ensuresproper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehiclethrough timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, and ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean.

  • Ensuresavailability of all the required documents/suppliesincluding vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, waiver form, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, fuel logs and necessary spare parts.

  • Ensures thatall immediate actionsrequired by rules and regulationsare taken in case of involvement in accidents.

  • Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption.

  • Coordinates with suppliers for generator maintenance, fueling, and servicing while ensuring compliance, record-keeping, and efficient collaboration with the logistics team.

  • Delivering mails and documents to UN agencies, embassies, and other organisations, as well as handling office documents for protocol clearance and assisting with clerical work.

  • Collects documents for the UNOPS-PSC office and expedites staff visa and customs formalities when necessary, while performing other administrative tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience/Language requirements


Education

  • Secondary Diploma (High School diploma or equivalent) is required with 2 years of relevant experience

  • First level university (Bachelor degree or equivalent) is desired

  • Advance university degree (Master degree or equivalent) is desired

  • A Technical Diploma in Automotive isdesired

Experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of working as a driver of civilian vehicles is required.

  • Experience and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations is required.

  • Experience in minor vehicle repair and maintenance is desired

Certifications

  • A valid driver’s licence type "General" is required.

Language Requirement:

  • Fluency in written, reading and oral English is required.

  • Fluency in written, reading and oral Arabic is required.
