Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Report Writer to join our team. This critical role involves supporting our team of evaluation experts throughout all stages of the evaluation process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and insightful reports. The Report Writer will be instrumental in synthesizing data and findings into clear, compelling narratives that inform and influence stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of evaluation methodologies, with a particular emphasis on the OECD-DAC criteria. They will have a proven track record in evaluation and research, showcasing their ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. This position requires exceptional writing and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

As a Report Writer, you will engage deeply in the evaluation process, from inception through to reporting. Your contributions will help shape the evaluation design, facilitate data collection and analysis, and produce comprehensive reports that highlight key findings and recommendations. Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

• Participate actively in brainstorming sessions and internal team meetings to contribute ideas and strategies for ongoing evaluations.
• Conduct thorough desk reviews of relevant documents, preparing detailed and accurate notes and summaries to gather initial insights and contextual information.
• Support in the development of comprehensive evaluation design matrices and create robust data collection tools (such as surveys, interview guides, and observation checklists) tailored to each evaluation's needs.
• Assist in drafting and finalizing the inception report, outlining the planned approach and setting the stage for the evaluation.
• Participate in data collection activities (including interviews, surveys, and field visits), organize and analyze the collected data using qualitative and quantitative methods to extract meaningful insights and trends.
• Support in developing and presenting preliminary findings to clients, ensuring clarity and actionable insights.
• Work closely with the evaluation team to integrate findings and recommendations into the final report, ensuring a cohesive and comprehensive evaluation document.
• Develop clear, concise, and well-structured sections of the main evaluation report, create detailed case studies and supplementary reports as required, ensuring all findings and recommendations are thoroughly documented.

Key Requirements:    

• An individual with a master’s degree in, International Development, International Relations, Political Science, Social Sciences, Communications or related field with an emphasis on research and reporting in their academic careers;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in research and evaluation, working in the international development sector.
• Excellent research and analytical and technical writing skills, prior experience in writing evaluation reports is a must.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point);
• Ability to summarize complex documents and align reports and other knowledge products to client compliance requirements.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime when deadlines approach.
• Comfortable with continuous quality management, process improvement, coordination, and strategic planning mechanisms.
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment, with proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work efficiently and independently, and within strict deadline-oriented environment.
• An ambitious personality driven by their need to go beyond curating monitoring reports and being able to undertake in-depth, complex, and comprehensive analytical work.
• Self-starter who is willing to invest in their rapid self-growth, and.
• Disposition to work in small and dynamic teams.
