About us:

MEDAIR eV is an emergency aid organisation based on Christian values. As part of the international Medair family with over 1,500 employees worldwide, we help people in need in remote crises and conflict regions to live a life of dignity. From Wiesbaden and Berlin, a team of 15 employees supports relief missions, raises public funds and donations and is involved in political committees. We shape the future, motivate people, improve quality and give hope.

We are now looking for a committed managing director (m/f/d) to lead our country office and support our team in its diverse tasks.

Place of work: Wiesbaden, Berlin, or remote with regular business trips
Contract duration: Permanent
Contract start: from 1.10.2024, full-time preferred

Your main tasks are:

Management of ongoing business, including monitoring of processes and costs
Strategic planning and orientation of the organization with the involvement of the Advisory Board
Participation in the preparation and implementation of funding applications as well as advice and support to the speakers of the various departments
Management and leadership of employees
Optimization and further development of organizational structures and processes as well as quality standards
Representation of the organisation externally, e.g. to current/potential donors and implementation partners as well as networking with associations and interest groups
Your profile:

Completed studies or comparable professional qualification
3-5 years of experience in management positions in the NGO sector, preferably in humanitarian aid
Experience in team leadership and personnel management
Experience in project funding with institutional and private donors is an advantage
Willingness to travel regularly at home and abroad
Fluent written and spoken German and English skills, as well as experience in dealing with international teams
Good knowledge of common MS Office applications
Strong social skills and empathy
Service and solution-oriented approach
Discretion and trustworthiness when dealing with sensitive data
