As a growing global alliance of over 15,000 members in 188 countries, we work together to monitor violations of basic civic freedoms, call out the perpetrators of violations and strengthen the power of people to organise by supporting a more accountable, effective and innovative civil society. We strive to promote excluded voices, especially from the Global South.

About the Role

The Advocacy and Campaigns officer will work closely and coordinate with the Advocacy and Campaigns team to use updates and findings from the CIVICUS led research to develop advocacy strategies and campaigns to address thematic issues or human rights violations based on those findings and work closely with CIVICUS members, partners and staff to respond to human rights violations and strengthen civil society to increase its resilience and develop agile campaigns to address civic space restrictions.. 

Key Requirements                                                                                           

  • Pre-empt, anticipate, analyse and respond to civic space restrictions in LAC and other regions (as the need arises)
  • Conceptualize and implement virtual and physical campaigns in response to emerging or actual restrictions on civic space
  • Analyse CIVICUS Monitor updates and findings and develop advocacy-related outputs
  • Streamline advocacy and campaigns across CIVICUS by including clusters and projects for a collective internal response

  • Develop appropriate advocacy initiatives and campaigns in response to EU SEE Early Warning Alerts, in collaboration with the ADC team and the EU SEE consortium partners. 
  • Contribute to internal and external reporting as required
