Global Evergreening Alliance (GEA) is a membership-based organisation that develops long-term solutions to restore degraded lands and improve livelihoods on a globally significant scale. We bring together some of the world’s most capable development and environmental NGOs, research, and scientific organisations to support and facilitate massive-scale environmental restoration and sustainable agriculture projects. Together we build on our shared vision of resilient landscapes and agricultural systems, a safe climate and better livelihoods for rural communities. We are currently implementing Africa’s largest ever community-led land restoration program: Restore Africa, and are expanding our programs to Asia.
The Position
We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Regional Program Director to lead our Restore Southeast Asia Coordination Unit (PCU). This pivotal role involves managing the PCU, coordinating the implementation of GEA’s Restore Southeast Asia Program, and fostering collaboration across the region. You will oversee staff management, program delivery, stakeholder engagement, and ensure compliance and quality across all aspects of the program.

Key Responsibilities
Management and Leadership
- Ensure smooth operation of the PCU according to established Terms of Reference.
- Develop and execute the PCU’s annual work plan and budget.
- Drive recruitment, onboarding, and professional development for PCU staff, including coaching and mentoring.
- Conduct performance evaluations for country-level Project Management Units (PMUs), addressing capacity gaps through targeted training.
- Foster effective communication between operational and technical teams, creating a supportive, highly productive work environment.
Program Management and Oversight
- Oversee the implementation of the Restore Southeast Asia Program, ensuring timely and budget-compliant execution.
- Collaborate with implementing partners to ensure effective program implementation, and adherence to project agreements and quality standards.
- Provide technical support and capacity-building initiatives for implementing partners.
- Conduct monitoring to assess progress, address issues, and share best practices.
- Coordinate with the GEA Secretariat for technical and program support.
Networking and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with investors/donors, governments, NGOs, and research institutions.
- Assist implementing partners in securing government support and program endorsements.
- Provide timely assistance to implementing partners in government engagement and securing program endorsement.
- Collaborate with research institutions to enhance program knowledge and synergies.
- Represent the Alliance at key events and meetings to enhance visibility and impact.
Evidence Building and Knowledge Management
- Oversee monitoring, evaluation, and reporting functions to ensure high-quality and timely outputs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor an impact measurement framework, and report results to the Secretariat.
- Establish a robust system for collecting and promoting evidence of program impacts.
- Organise regional technical learning forums.
Financial Management
- Monitor program expenditure against budget and work with implementing partners to address emerging issues.
- Manage the PCU budget effectively and ensure timely financial reporting and funding flows.
- Coordinate project audits and address any findings promptly.
Key Selection Criteria
- Experience in managing large-scale program implementation in Natural Resource Management or Sustainable Agriculture (Minimum 10 years), preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
- At least five (10) years of management experience, including direct supervision of professional, technical and support staff and assembling teams.
- Demonstrated experience working closely within multidisciplinary and multi-cultural teams at national, regional and international levels in the Asia region
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, e.g. business administration, international and community development, natural resource management (NRM), sustainable agriculture
- Extensive knowledge of the development issues and trends in the Asia region
- Basic knowledge of the trends in the carbon market and climate change conversations.
- Experience in high-level networking and relationship strengthening with internal and external stakeholders
