We Are Looking for: TRAINING AND FINANCE TOOLS REFERENT

Position to be filled: January 2025

Objectives

As part of the Finance strategy, the Finance department aims to support the skill development and career paths of accounting and financial profiles. The career path of these profiles will be approached holistically, from recruitment to technical assessment, including access to information, training and career development.

The Training and Finance Tools Referent will be responsible for defining and implementing this strategy within MSF WaCA's missions. Reporting to the Head of Finance Operational, you will be responsible for liaising and collaborating between the HR and Finance departments.

You will also be responsible for the functional administration and process improvement of financial tools in the field, in order to optimise the financial and accounting functions in MSF WaCA's missions.

Main responsibilities

A. Improvement of Tools and Processes

  1. Act as a focal point for assistance to field users of financial tools in the event of system problems/bugs.
  2. Participate in the development of new information systems and/or functionalities for the finance and accounting function in the field.
  3. Create dashboards on finance professions integrating relevant and measurable KPIs.
  4. Contribute to the financial expertise of project teams and platforms throughout the organisation.
  5. Raise awareness among field finance staff of the potential use and benefits of optimising processes and systems.
  6. Develop finance and accounting expertise and support in the field.

B. Capacity Building

  1. Mapping the current situation :
  • Current personnel needs for financial profiles.
  • Strengths and limitations of current financial profiles in the field.
  • Identification of gaps in profiles, skills, experience, and knowledge.
  • Definition of what needs to be improved to meet operational and technical.

2. Liaise with HR teams on cross-functional strategies, tools and common methods.

3. Ensuring that training and learning sessions are planned, prepared, documented and properly delivered:

  • Developing and implementing tools: procedures, guidelines, ‘admin kit’, ‘tool box’, technical sheets, etc.
  • Training and coaching field teams in their areas of expertise.
  • Disseminating best practice and participating in peer networks to share best practice.

4. Oversee SharePoint finance and ensure that :

  • Knowledge, procedures, forms and guidelines are available online and up to date.
  • The collective practice of finance staff in the field is active and encourages exchanges and communication between peers.
  • Encourage self-learning and guide in the use of Tembo training.

C. Other Responsibilities

  • Support the cell’s financial referent to cover position vacancies if needed.

Job requirements

Education

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, DCG, DEC or equivalent is an added advantage.

Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated excellent ability to work collaboratively
  • Leadership abilities and organizational skills

Professional experience required

  • Extended MSF experience in HQ or/and Field
  • Teaching experience (coordination, design of learning solutions, instructional/professional supervision, mentoring or coaching)
  • High knowledge of MSF financial procedures, tools and accounting
  • Ability to write guidelines, instructions, procedures

Languages Skills

  • Working proficiency in English and French

Computer Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of MS office tools
  • In-depth knowledge of financial ERP systems and processes
