Position: Team Leader/Exploration Geologist
Project title: Strategic Analysis and Formulation of Mining Sector Actions in Uganda
Location: Home-based with at least two missions in Uganda
Indicative input:  part-time (60 working days / Dec 2024 – Sept 2025)

EQUINOCCIO is in search of a Team Leader/Exploration Geologist to join an EU-funded project aimed at conducting strategic analysis and supporting the development of Uganda’s mining sector. This position will contribute to identifying opportunities for critical raw materials exploration, engaging stakeholders, and promoting sustainable mining practices in line with EU interests and environmental standards.

Qualifications:

• University degree in geology, metallurgy, or a related discipline.
• Membership with a recognised professional institution with chartered/registered status.

General professional experience:

• Minimum 12 years of international experience in designing and implementing exploration programmes for geological surveys.
• Knowledge of modern exploration techniques with a focus on critical raw materials.

Specific professional experience:

• At least 4 international experiences working with governmental ministries or private entities in the mining sector, with a minimum of 2 experiences in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Proven experience in mineral value addition projects (e.g. beneficiation centers, smelting plants) with at least 1 experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Familiarity with the European Commission’s procurement and funding procedures.

Language Skills:

• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
