Position: Mining Sector Policy Expert
Project title: Strategic Analysis and Formulation of Mining Sector Actions in Uganda

Location: Home-based with at least two missions in Uganda
Indicative start date: 01/12/2024
Indicative input:  part-time (60 working days / Dec 2024 – Sept 2025)

EQUINOCCIO is looking for a Mining Sector Policy Expert to support an EU-funded project providing policy guidance and capacity building in Uganda’s mining sector. This role involves mapping key stakeholders, conducting analysis, and formulating actions to align Uganda’s mining policies with sustainable and EU-compliant standards.

Qualifications:

• University degree in geology, metallurgy, public policy, economics, public finance, business administration, or a related field.

General professional experience:

• Minimum 12 years of international experience as a policy analyst, policymaker, or technical advisor in the mining sector.

Specific professional experience:

• At least 4 international experiences working in technical advisory capacities with public entities in the mining sector, including 2 experiences in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Experience in designing or evaluating capacity-building programmes in the mining sector, with at least 1 experience in both public and private sectors in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Language Skills:

• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
