In-Country Researcher, MCC Kiribati Threshold Evaluation, Fiji

We work across all development sectors including democracy and governance, health and education, the environment, and economic growth. Since 1997 we have worked in over 100 countries for clients such as US government agencies, bilateral donors, multilateral development banks, foundations, and nonprofits.

Proposal Objective:

SI is bidding on a proposal funded through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Kiribati, to conduct an evaluation of the over $29.1 million MCC Kiribati Threshold Program.​ The Program includes the Mwakuri Aaika Nakoraoi Ibukin Maeuraoimi (MANIM) Project, which focuses on improving youth work readiness skills, job training/vocational education, labor force resilience, and access to employment.

Position Description:

SI is seeking a Fijian In-Country Researcher consultant to support both the evaluation implementation and logistics of an evaluation project.

Position is contingent upon the award of the contract to Social Impact. Anticipated award date is mid- 2025.

**Please note: This is a local position. Only candidates with permanent residence in or citizenship in Fiji will be considered.**

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in qualitative and quantitative data collection in Fiji, including administrative data from government officials.
  • Provide inputs to develop evaluation deliverables, survey instruments, and questionnaires including providing Fijian context in the workforce development/job vocation sector.
  • Facilitate in-country communications, data requests, and stakeholder relationships with MCC, MCA and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Review relevant program documentation including administrative data and MCC documents as requested by SI.
  • Partake in training, execution, and oversight of data collection activities including qualitative interviews and surveys.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience conducting research and evaluation. This includes qualitative and quantitative data collection of administrative data from government offices, preferred.
    • Experience conducting research in secondary/higher education or technical skills in vocational/workforce development sector is preferred.
  • Experience working with or discussing technical issues with government officials or international donors.
  • Professional proficiency in English is required.
  • Experience supporting MCC evaluations preferred.
