The Research Officer holds responsibility related to developing, implementing and monitoring the ENSURE regional research project in coordination with the Programme coordinator and is responsible for the following tasks:
• Assist the Programme Coordinator to plan and coordinate the implementation of the ENSURE project in line with donor requirements;
• Provide the necessary support and technical assistance to consortium partners in project design, implementation, and reporting this includes organise capacity building based on identified needs and developing a common project monitoring plan (with the support of our regional PMEL officer)
• Conduct regular field and follow up visits to ensure effective project implementation; and interact with project consortium partners and stakeholders in project locations;
• Coordinate, facilitate and set the agenda for meetings, trainings and workshops including bi-annual meetings with consortium partners;
• Coordinate various studies and research articles as per project deliverables;
• Coordinate with the donor learning and practice group to gather and disseminate best practices throughout project implementation period;
• In coordination with the Programme coordinator and Grant manager ensure project milestones are reached, that information is timely gathered and reported to the donor including development of the interim narrative reports
• Closely collaborate with other human rights institutions and the relevant line ministries as required on issues regarding support to human rights defenders.
• Contribute to sound administrative and financial management of the project, through compliance with and implementation of Kvinna till Kvinna's administrative and financial policies and procedures;
• Participate in Kvinna till Kvinna’s internal meetings, regionally and/or in Stockholm, or other location as required;
• When delegated, represent Kvinna till Kvinna at external meetings and functions, for example with donors, international organisations and other NGOs and perform any other task in relation to the operations
• Closely cooperate with other programme and finance staff, provide input to and contribute to developing concept notes and proposals to donors.
For this position we would like you to have:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Gender Studies, Conflict Studies, Political Science or related field;
• Minimum three years of relevant work experience with women’s human rights, gender equality, women’s political activism, and/or organisational development;
• Commitment to gender equality;
• Evidence of strategic thinking and proven ability to organise, plan and prioritise work;
• Knowledge of basic research methodology;
• In-depth experience in project cycle management and in planning, monitoring and evaluation;
• Experience of adhering to and monitoring project budgets;
• Experience of drafting donor reports and donor proposals;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, as well as a good grasp of the standard Microsoft Office package;
• Ability to self-start on tasks and work in a team and independently;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in relation to all forms of communication;
• Able to work in a multicultural environment and respect diversity;
• Ability to multitask
Meriting is:
• Experience from planning, monitoring and coordinating participatory research projects
• Good understanding of human rights and the application of a rights-based approach in development cooperation.
You will join a team of 130+ dedicated Kvinna till Kvinna colleagues who fight for women’s rights in more than 20 countries affected by conflict.
This position is based in our Liberia office in Monrovia.
This is a part time position (80 %), with a probationary period of 6 months. Starting date as soon as possible. Your role may include occasional international travel.
Our working week is 37.5 hours. Each year, you are entitled to a minimum 25 days of annual leave. We offer an annual wellness allowance.
