Description

The professional development and training (PDT) team focuses on training design and delivery, professional development advice and mentoring at the request, and for the benefit, of our partners.

For our PDT service line, we are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to be our next:

Project Officer (Training) – 100%

Location: Geneva (with some travel)

Starting date: 1st January 2025

Duration: 12 month fixed-term contract, with possibility of extension.

The role

Reporting to the Head of PDT, the Project Officer will mainly contribute to the organisation and delivery of training programs on SSR related themes and of capacity-building projects to support our international partners

Key areas of operation

  • Training organization - contribute to the ongoing design, development and oversight of both face-to-face and online training courses on SSR and related topics in multiple languages; providing logistical support when needed to organize the training
  • E-Learning development– contribute to developing and updating e-learning courses and online materials
  • Material development – contribute to updating and producing high quality training materials in cooperation with the programme manager and the facilitators.
  • Facilitation - participate alongside, and in support of, the programme manager and facilitators to the delivery of trainings, through the facilitation of assignments and interactive exercises
  • Project management and administration: contribute to the different aspects of project management, including preparation of supporting documents, after-action reviews, evaluation systems, evaluation reports

Your experience

  • MA/MSc in International relations, security studies, political sciences, conflict studies, development or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience, with a connection to training
  • General SSR and governance knowledge
  • Some training and/or facilitation experience
  • Experience in working in an international environment, including with international bilateral partners and multilateral organisations

Your skills

  • Public speaking, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Knowledge of adult learning methodology
  • Knowledge of elearning software, such as Easygenerator equivalent
  • Knowledge of interactive training tools, such as mural/miro, moodle, mentimeter…
  • Ability to design training courses and training sessions
  • Graphic design skills (for powerpoints and for elearning)
  • Ability to design evaluation surveys and to contribute to MEAL policy
  • Flexibility and hands-on approach
  • Diplomatic sensitivity
  • Swiss or EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Switzerland at the time of application is a pre-requisite
  • Fluent in English and ideally a working knowledge of French (B2-level minimum).
