Description

As the German Red Cross (DRK), it is our job to be there for people and to help them - solely according to the extent of their need. The Red Cross and Red Crescent movement has been providing comprehensive help to people for more than 150 years. In the DRK General Secretariat in Berlin, you will help shape the future direction of the DRK eV as the national Red Cross Society and leading association of the voluntary welfare sector. Every day, you will contribute to ensuring that people in Germany and around the world receive help - solely according to their level of need.

To strengthen the “Operation & National Society Cooperation” team, we are looking for you as a financial clerk for project accounting (m/f/d) as soon as possible.

This is a full-time position, initially limited to 2 years. A long-term collaboration is sought.

Your tasks:
Financial processing of DRK projects in the area of “International Cooperation”, which means in detail:

Participation in the budget preparation and budget monitoring of foreign projects
Preparation of requests for funds from the grantor and control of receipt of payments
Accounting for projects, preparation of interim and final use certificates for submission to the DRK audit office and the funding bodies in accordance with the specific funding regulations (BMZ, Federal Foreign Office, EU and other third-party funding bodies)
Transfer of advances to foreign delegations, settlement of foreign cash accounts, filing and archiving of cash receipts
Maintaining the project master file, processing invoices and preparing payment and booking instructions
Close communication with the finance delegates in the DRK foreign delegations, partly in English
Accompanying internal and external audits
Participation in preparatory annual closing work for the foreign aid sector

We expect:
Successfully completed commercial/administrative training or comparable qualification
Sound accounting knowledge
Initial experience in accounting for grants, especially from the EU, BMZ and AA and other grant providers
Sound knowledge of the Federal Budget Code, knowledge of grant law desirable
Proficiency in financial accounting software within SAP and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365
Experienced use of Office 365, especially Excel
Good written and spoken English skills
Responsible and independent work, ability to work in a team
identification with the principles of the Red Cross
