Functional responsibilities


The Communications Senior Officer – Brand and Design is responsible for the creation and management of all visual assets for the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Tech Envoy (OSET). This individual ensures the consistent application of the visual identity across all communications materials, the website, including reports, social media, and presentations. The Communications Senior Officer – Brand and Design is vital for communicating OSET's strategic goals and maintaining its branding integrity.

Branding and Identity:

  • Support the development of OSET’s branding in accordance with the branding guidelines of the United Nations.
  • Support OSET’s projects in developing their branding.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Lead and Digital & Content Lead to develop and maintain OSET’s brand guidelines.
  • Create standardized templates and visual branding materials that ensure consistency across both external and internal communications.
  • Work with all team members to ensure a consistent use of communications materials.


Asset Development:

  • Design visual reports, templates for social media posts, and presentations to support OSET’s communication objectives.
  • Work closely with the Digital &Digital and Content to create visually appealing and impactful content for social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
  • Design and optimize visual assets for various platforms (e.g., social media, website, mobile, print), ensuring that visuals are tailored to platform-specific requirements and audience preferences.
  • Design on-brand graphics and templates for ongoing social media campaigns, ensuring consistency with OSET’s messaging and visual identity.
  • Collaborate on real-time social media events by designing timely visual assets such as banners, posts, and stories.
  • Assist the Digital & Content Lead in adapting visual content for various platforms, optimizing designs for different formats and audiences.
  • Develop infographics, charts, videos, and data visualizations that communicate complex policy information and data insights in an accessible and engaging way.


Monitoring and Continuous Improvement:

  • Conduct quarterly reviews of OSET’s communications materials (social media, reports, presentations) to ensure consistent branding and application of visual identity across all channels.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

a. Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) preferably in communications, business administration or related areas with two years of relevant experience or
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) preferably in communications, business administration or related areas with 4 years of relevant experience are required.
b. Experience

Required

  • Relevant experience is defined as experience in communications, public relations, or media.
  • Experience in supporting the development and implementation of social media strategies.
  • Experience working with social media management tools.
  • Experience in supporting innovative communication strategies in the public sector.
Desirable:(The following experience is optional. Candidates who do not have it are welcome to apply)
  • Experience in global digital diplomacy is desirable;

  • Experience in events management and coordination is desirable;

c. Languages

  • Fluency in English (read, speak, write) is required.
  • Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an asset.
