About Terre des Hommes

Terre des Hommes Nederland aims to protect children by preventing and stopping child exploitation. And by enabling children to make their voices count. Terre des Hommes Nederland focuses on (online) sexual exploitation of children, child labour and humanitarian action. Purpose of this position

As a regional coordinator for charity shops, you are the point of contact for the shops and volunteers within your region and responsible for managing national shops and realising the set goals.

You enjoy working with people and building trust and connection. This is your starting point to use all opportunities together and thus realise a maximum net contribution to the projects of Terre des Hommes. The fact that our Terre des Hommes shops are run by volunteers is an extra motivation for you. You see the challenge and values in a collaboration with people who work unpaid for a good cause.

Position in the organization

You report to the Manager Retail Operations & Volunteer Support and are part of a team of 7. This team focuses on continuing the existing local and national store network and volunteer support and involvement.

Together with the Retail Communication & Business Development team, we form the store support team, with a total of 10/11 team members. The store support team is responsible for a well-functioning store network, where customers and volunteers feel at home and supported. This network consists of more than 40 stores and 1700 committed volunteers. The store support team offers the entire network experience in Retail, Sales, volunteer involvement, administration and legal support.

You work closely with the other regional coordinator of charity stores for intervision and sharing best practices. For the development of the stores in your region, you work closely with the team and the manager Communications & Business Development. For operational support, you will work closely with the front office coordinator and assistant, as well as the Finance & Control department.

What will you do..

The regional coordinator for charity shops within your own region, fulfills a function at tactical and operational level and is primarily responsible for the following areas:

People

You embrace the idea that volunteers are the foundation of the shops and are responsible for realizing complete core teams (team of volunteers that coordinates the daily operations in the shop) and sufficiently large volunteer teams. To this end, you work together with your colleagues from shop support and the volunteer recruitment coordinator.

You are responsible for a good working atmosphere and a safe working environment in the shops, you monitor the implementation of the appreciation policy and the implementation of the safety checklist.

More specifically:

Directly manages the volunteers from the core team and indirectly the volunteer teams.
Creates a pleasant atmosphere and safe working environment.
Stimulates the functioning of volunteers.

Is responsible for the right qualified and sufficient core team members and volunteers.
Acts as an escalation option in case of conflicts.
Span of control between 24 and 40 core team members and 240 to 500 volunteers

Financial result

You have everything in your backpack to make stores a success and, together with the core teams and volunteers, ensure that what is going well remains good and you know how to cash in on potential. From an entrepreneurial and commercial perspective, you use all opportunities and possibilities with stores to travel from A to B(etter and even best). You support and motivate the volunteers in your stores like no other to achieve great results. The stores are an important part of the fundraising strategy of Terre des Hommes Nederland. We have therefore drawn up a realistic growth and development ambition.

More specifically:

Realizes the set goals:
6 to 10 stores in the relevant region
Is responsible for agreed goals for the short and medium term, turnover and net result expectations and budget management. Annually select 2 stores in your own region, to work with the retail development coordinator to come up with a plan of approach and its implementation.
Annually contribute to opening a new store in your own region.
Take advantage of opportunities and developments in the market that fit within the strategy of the Terre des Hommes organization.
Makes an active contribution to cost reduction and profit optimization of the stores in your own region.
Proposes the stores and annual plan and budget, monitor progress with the manager retail operations & volunteer support.
Coordinates cash control and financial store administration.
Is independently authorized to make decisions that are necessary for carrying out the tasks at store level. Within the framework of the established annual plan and an approved budget for the individual stores.
Provides input to the strategic annual and multi-year plan of the Stichting Terre des Hommes stores.

Policy Implementation

Implements the volunteer and store policy.
Provides input for new policy and working methods (including contract management, community activation and online activities)
Is responsible for safety, ARBO and complies with relevant laws, regulations and compliance within the stores in their own region.
Is responsible for the entire operation of the stores in their own region.
Learns from best practices and shares this with other stores in their own region.
Actively shares their own knowledge in the field of retail and marketing and working with volunteers. Is responsible for the entire operation of business operations and store systems (cash register, accounting, utilities & telecom, etc.).

Local network and local partners

Mobilizes local people, organizations, entrepreneurs and governments to make a positive contribution and to commit themselves to the stores.
Stimulates the volunteer core teams in finding, developing and maintaining partnerships, sponsors and a local network around the stores as well as online visibility.

+3 years of work experience in a coordinating position that revolves around people, results and commercial thinking in a social enterprise
Has knowledge of and experience in the retail and commercial sector.
Has knowledge of and experience in working with volunteers.
Is a real motivator.
Is used to being part of a team and working in an organized way.
Is able to work in a dynamic environment.
Is able to zoom in and out.
Has experience in organizing activities and events.
Has financial insight.
Has knowledge and experience in making a financial budget and monitoring budgets.
Speaks and writes fluent Dutch.
Has a driver's license B and own car or is willing to travel with the NS. Lives in the middle of the country and is willing to travel north occasionally.
Is willing to work 1 day a week at the office in The Hague, be on the road an average of 2 days a week and work from home 1 day a week.

A contract for 1 year with the intention to extend to a permanent contract afterwards.
The salary scale for this position is scale 9 and depending on experience between €3,501.97 - €4,461.39 gross per month based on a full-time (36 hours)
We offer a 36-hour contract which in our organization is equivalent to a full-time working week. The advantage of this is that you can work 4 x 9 and have one day off per week while still having a full-time contract. You may divide hours over the week according to your own preference, in consultation with your manager;
We work hybrid, so 50% in the office and 50% at home. We are quite flexible and have an eye for your work-life balance;
An office in the thriving heart of The Hague, city of international human rights and political capital.
25 days of paid leave per year based on full-time employment, pro rata for part-time days;
We offer a commuting allowance for the kilometers you travel by bike or provide an NS card;
Our pension scheme is hosted by ASR and Terre des Hommes contributes the largest part of the pension contribution.
Our new employees receive a one-off financial compensation for the purchase or furnishing of an ergonomic home workplace. We are happy to tell you more about this if applicable.
