Functional responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Radio Okapi, the Project Manager will undertake the following tasks:

  • Project Manage a project aimed at enhancing the capacities of over 200 community radio stations located in conflict affected areas (North Kivu, South Kivu, Ituri), serves as the team leader for field implemented mission; oversee and deliver capacity building sessions and trainings in collaboration with various partners including the United Nations Joint Office for Human Rights.

  • Project Manage the Radio Okapi – Unicef Gates project aimed at supporting the promotion and routine vaccination in DRC.

  • Serves as the focal point to coordinate activities between UNICEF DRC Advocacy & Comms team, UNICEF Community Action Cells, Radio Okapi, DRC’s Ministry of Health “Enlarged Vaccination Plan” (PEV) representatives as well as PATH.

  • Implements capacity building and sensitization programmes for community radios on the benefits of vaccines and broadcast content to their communities.

  • Create and review projects budget plans and monitor ongoing projects performances against budget and KPIs, ensuring adherence to guidance and policies, and providing financial analysis and advice to optimize resources, as well as monitor and provide advice on fund utilization.

  • Utilize a project management framework (e.g., Agile, PRINCE2) to guide the implementation of Radio Okapi's projects, ensuring structured execution and flexibility to adapt to changes.

  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and milestones for each project. Regularly track progress against benchmarks to ensure alignment with objectives.

  • Provide leadership, strategic and technical guidance on monitoring, evaluation, reporting, work planning and budgeting for initiatives supporting health, nutrition, education and activities implemented in line with projects planning and in coordination with relevant stakeholders..

  • Prepare drafts, background papers, studies, reports, presentations and other related documents.

  • Identify potential partners for new partnership opportunities and pursue portfolio growth in preparation of future Okapi’s second life.

  • Assist in the preparation of agreements and contracts with governments, NGOs and other public and private entities, as well as claims and disputes.

  • Contribute to overall planning of Radio Okapi’s sustainability.

  • Organize/Contribute to the activities promoting good relations between Radio Okapi and its donors as well as the national authorities, and ensured accurate information dissemination on Radio Okapi’s role and mandate

  • Contribute to the identification, design, management, and evaluation, of Radio Okapi’s projects

  • Identify and prospect high value partnerships with the corporate, non-governmental, and international sector : work collaboratively as part of the Partnership team to selectively identify, research, and screen target entities, to develop successful approaches for potential new partners including relationship and network mapping

  • Provide guidance and supervision to staff, including UNVs

 

Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education

  • A Masters degree or equivalent is required in international law, project management, or related fields

  • A Bachelor or equivalent in international law, project management, or related fields with a minimum of 7 years of experience is required

Experience

  • At least 5 years (of which 1 year is in an international context) of relevant progressively responsible experience in Partnerships/Programme Management and/or Legal Affairs for Master holders and at least 7 years for bachelors holders

  • Knowledge of international public law is required

  • Experience in peacekeeping mission is mandatory


Languages

  • Fluency in both English and French are required.
