Technical activities:
- Provide technical support related to the implementation of LQMS
- Provide advice, mentorship, and training support to laboratory managers, quality managers, and laboratory staff on LQMS at laboratories in the following areas: documentation and SOPs, laboratory testing, sample management and collection techniques, sample packaging, quality management practices, laboratory information management, continual improvement, management of non-conforming events, service delivery improvement, universal biosafety and biosecurity principles, waste management, internal auditing and management reviews.
- Support the development of a formal LQMS training curriculum and associated training material.
- Ensure adherence to proper equipment management including preventive maintenance.
- Provide technical assistance for equipment management including validation, calibration, certification and routine servicing to ensure efficient operation and minimal test interruptions.
- Recommend quality system improvements and advise on laboratory investigations, incidents, and deviations.
- Support accreditation audits by identifying accreditation bodies, scheduling accreditation audits, and resolving identified non-conformances.
Communication:
- Keep project members and stakeholders informed of key developments, decisions, issues and changes to project plans.
- Develop visual and summary elements for high-level reporting of activities.
- Participate in communication and publication activities.
Meeting management:
- Participate in regular telephone conferences and meetings with IQLS and stakeholders targeted.
- Contribute to meeting minutes.
- Ensure follow-up action on issues raised in meetings
Reporting:
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation
- Write and review project reports
Training level expected:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or University in Laboratory sciences or laboratory disciplines, public health
Or
Doctorate (Pharmacist/MD)
Experience: 8-10 years
Key competencies:
- Experience in conducting laboratory training activities and mentorship in resource-limited countries
- Experience of at least five years in clinical or public health laboratory environment with a good understanding of laboratory standards and workflow
- Knowledge and expertise in LQMS/ ISO17025/ISO15189
- Knowledge and expertise of Animal health laboratories
- You are fluent both in written and spoken English (B2 level minimum)
- You are dynamic, organized, and able to manage priorities,
- You have good writing and analytical skills,
- You are familiar with the Office suite and MS Team
