Action For Humanity (AFH) delivers high-impact humanitarian and development programmes in sectors including education, livelihoods, protection, and health. In Jordan, AFH supports vulnerable Syrian and Palestinian refugees as well as Jordanian host communities through sustainable and locally led initiatives.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall management and successful implementation of the "LIFE Project (Livelihoods and Inclusion for Employment)" in Jordan. This initiative aims to improve the socio-economic inclusion of vulnerable youth and refugees by equipping them with market-relevant vocational skills, business and life skills, and start-up support. The Project Manager will ensure high-quality delivery, effective coordination with stakeholders, strong financial oversight, and compliance with AFH and donor requirements.

The role requires a strategic thinker with excellent project management, partnership development, and communication skills, and a strong commitment to empowering marginalised communities through innovative, inclusive, and sustainable livelihood interventions. The ideal candidate will bring strong project management skills, a background in livelihoods or skills development, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach to strengthening programme impact and sustainability.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in international development, business management, Project Management, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • A master’s degree in a related discipline is desirable.

General Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in humanitarian or development programs.
  • At least 3 years in a managerial or leadership position, preferably in livelihood or income-generating projects, particularly vocational and life skills.
  • Experience in project management, budget management, staff supervision, and donor reporting.
  • Experience in managing vocational training or entrepreneurship projects targeting youth, women, or refugees.
  • Familiarity with cash-based programming and community development approaches.
  • Experience in conducting baseline surveys, needs assessment and market assessment.
  • Experience working with INGOs and in complex emergency contexts is an asset.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in crisis or emergency settings.
  • Sound knowledge of humanitarian principles and relevant donor regulations.
  • Skilled in project design, proposal development, and project cycle management.
  • Strong reporting, documentation, and data monitoring experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Leadership & Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, coordination, and negotiation skills.
  • Culturally sensitive and able to work with diverse communities.
  • Ability to handle pressure and multitask effectively.
  • Collaborative team player and network builder

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Arabic is required.
  • Proficiency in English is highly desirable.

General Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Implementation
  • Conduct a baseline survey, a market assessment and a needs assessment
  • Develop detailed work plans, procurement schedules, and implementation timelines.
  • Oversee all project activities ensuring alignment with donor requirements and organizational goals.
  • Manage project budget and expenditures in compliance with financial policies.
  • Co-design curricula and training modules tailored to market demands in Jordan.
  • Facilitate linkages between project participants and local employment hubs, cooperatives, or businesses.
  • Support the development of an alumni/mentorship network to promote peer-to-peer support and sustainability.
  • Contribute to programme sustainability and growth by identifying opportunities to scale the LIFE Project and secure additional funding. This includes documenting impact and success stories, supporting the development of concept notes and proposals, and engaging with relevant donors and local stakeholders to position AFH for future funding opportunities in the livelihoods and inclusion sector in Jordan.
  • Team Management & Capacity Building
  • Supervise project staff, assign responsibilities, and provide performance guidance.
  • Organize capacity-building activities for staff and local partners.
  • Promote a team culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
  • Lead development and use of MEAL tools and indicators for data collection and analysis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate narrative and financial reporting to HQ and donors.
  • Conduct regular field visits to assess progress and service quality.
  • Establish a Feedback and Complaints Response Mechanism (FCRM) in line with CHS standards.
  • Work with the MEAL and Comms teams to document success stories and produce visibility content
  • Stakeholder Coordination
  • Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and humanitarian/development actors.
  • Represent the LIFE Project in coordination platforms and external meetings.
  • Maintain open communication with donors and internal stakeholders.
  • Risk Management & Compliance
  • Identify project risks (contextual, financial, operational) and apply mitigation measures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, donor regulations, and local laws.
  • Ensure all activities comply with AFH safeguarding policies and promote inclusion and safety of all participants, especially women and persons with disabilities
