Position: Medical Education Officer

Job Location: Damascus Head Office

Reporting to: Senior Medical Education Officer

Working area: Syria

Purpose of Assignment:

The Medical Education Officer is responsible for being technically involved in Medical Education programs through providing technical assistance to the relevant projects and activities to ensure implementing high quality Medical Education projects and all related activities.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Follow up technically on the medical educational projects and all related activities, ensuring their compatibility with the organization’s strategic and operational plan.
  • Coordinate with the medical educational actors in the regional office for the educational matters and represent the Syria office in the medical educational committee.
  • Participate in developing educational and medical education projects proposals (LF, needs assessment, resources, and work plan) and give the necessary technical suggestions.
  • Provide the necessary recommendations to address any medical education issue technically.
  • Participate in the development of the educational curriculums and plans, standards, and quality assurance in medical education facilities, and provide the necessary mentoring aspects in this regard.
  • Coordinate with the Projects and Syria HR Departments for the capacity building of the staff in medical education facilities through training courses.
  • Provide standards for periodically evaluating processes of medical education technical staff and serving facilities.
  • Follow up the daily work of SAMS-supported medical education institutes from a technical aspect.
  • Study and review the periodic reports received from the medical education facility technically and provide notes and suggestions.
  • Prepare a periodic report on the progress of the medical education projects from a technical side and share it with the external departments and parties involved.
  • Contributes to the development of technical standards for the provision of secondary and tertiary health services in hospitals based on evidence-based international standards.
  • Contribute to the development of criteria for the evaluation of hospitals and provide suggestions to improve the quality of health services provided.
  • Participate in technical supporting partners and field staff by creating working and activity plans.
  • Continuously monitor the technical evaluation of the strengths and gaps in the performance of partners and field team members and ensure quality services in SAMS medical education facilities.
  • Support, in accordance with deadlines, ME and SHC project reporting (activity planning, monthly program progress, and project final reports) from a technical perspective.
  • Assist in preparation for building capacities and training related to SHC in addition to participating in facilitating these trainings (including the development of relevant ToRs and trainer selection).
  • Represent SAMS in the relevant technical working groups and other medical education meetings.
  • Participating in ensuring service user and career feedback is captured and used to drive quality improvements for service users.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

THE CANDIDATE’S REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory Qualifications required

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical science preferably Medicine.
  • 2 years’ experience in Project management in NGO Sector

Languages

  • Fluent written and spoken in Arabic
