GGGI is hiring a junior individual consultant to support the strategic operations for the Africa Regional office. The junior Individual consultant is a full-time consultant who will be assisting the GGGI Africa Regional Program for the implementation of the Africa Regional program and Country Projects development specifically on the ‘Creating an Enabling Environment to Catalyze Green Investment into Green Hydrogen Industry in Kenya’ project, and timely delivery of the activities.

Project background
Based in Seoul, The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an intergovernmental organization founded to support and promote a model of economic growth known as "green growth", which targets key aspects of economic performance such as poverty reduction, job creation, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. GGGI works with countries around the world, building their capacity and working collaboratively on green growth policies that can impact the lives of millions. The organization partners with countries, multilateral institutions, government bodies, and private sectors to help build economies that grow strongly and are more efficient and sustainable in the use of natural resources, less carbon intensive, and more resilient to climate change.

GGGI has a diverse portfolio of programs in developing countries around the world. These regional and country programs, together with global products and services, focus on delivering results through an integrated approach of evidence-based green growth planning and implementation aligned to countries’ development priorities. The organization also focuses on knowledge development and management activities which build a strong theoretical and empirical basis for green growth, while providing concrete options and guidance for policymakers; as well as building the conditions for public and private green infrastructure investments.

GGGI Africa Regional Office
GGGI established a Regional Office for Africa, located in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. The Regional Office manages and coordinates GGGI’s current activities in Africa region, serving to engage with Africa regional organizations, developing new regional activities, developing, and managing engagements with countries interested in joining GGGI. The Office also supports the engagement of GGGI members and partner countries with the Green Climate Fund. The Africa Regional Office will be led by GGGI’s Director for Africa.

Objectives of the assignment

The junior Individual consultant is a full-time consultant who will be assisting the GGGI Africa Regional Program for the implementation of the Africa Regional program and Country Projects development specifically on the ‘Creating an Enabling Environment to Catalyze Green Investment into Green Hydrogen Industry in Kenya’ project, and timely delivery of the activities.

Deliverables and Payment schedule
Communication Support

Assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with national and local media outlets and journalists for relevant coverage of GGGI’s work about the ‘Creating an Enabling Environment to Catalyze Green Investment into Green Hydrogen Industry in Kenya’ and other ‘Key Africa Regional Office Events’.
Liaise with communication service providers, such as event organizers, to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of tasks, services, products, etc. specifically on the ‘Creating an Enabling Environment to Catalyze Green Investment’ into Green Hydrogen Industry in Kenya and other specific ‘Key Africa Regional Office Events’
Support building a strong collaborative working relationship with the Communication and Knowledge Sharing Unit at HQ and ensure the smooth implementation of communication, branding guidelines and policies.

Project Preparation Support

Support the preparation of concept notes and project proposals for the Kenya Country Office, including providing guidance on the recalibration of inputs and outputs; ensure that timely donor approval is requested for project amendments.
Support proposal development, including conducting background research to inform proposal design.
Support the preparation of business cases and programme proposals.

The consultant will be remunerated monthly according to the exact number of days worked during the month*

The Junior Consultant shall submit the monthly summary report which should reflect the outcome of all activities prepared by the consultant.
All relevant technical papers, reports, and other documents prepared from the start to the end of the assignment shall be attached to the end of the contract report.
The Junior Consultant shall submit the monthly summary report in electronic versions readable by Microsoft Office application.
All outputs must be written in English.
All outputs must be approved by the Head of Kenya Programme.

Expertise required

At least 2 years' experience in communications, partnership, resource mobilization, business development, and administration.
Good understanding of communications, resource mobilization, business development, or an interest and willingness to learn.
Ability to work independently under pressure and tight deadlines, and to perform various tasks simultaneously
Strong analytical and organizational skills, and ability to deliver results on time
Excellent spoken and written English
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A bachelor’s degree in economics. Finance, Business, Environmental Sciences, or relevant areas
International exposure and interest in Africa
