The Institute for Legal Support and Technical Assistance (ILSTA), is an Institute specialised in capacity building in the legal sector, working in partnership with government authorities. The Institute provides advanced training courses, supporting the development of good governance. ILSTA is seeking to recruit a motivated Program officer, to be located in Vientiane/Lao PDR
The incumbent will :
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and develop materials to support project implementation,
- Review and analyse project-related documents, instruments, and other materials to identify key issues, inconsistencies, and potential areas for improvement.
- Draft and contribute to the preparation of background papers, studies, reports, and other project-related texts, including legislative documents and commentaries.
- Provide support for various tasks and activities as required to ensure the successful implementation of projects.
Requirements and Profile:
- Proven experience in supporting project implementation, particularly in legal or development contexts.
- Strong understanding and ability to apply principles, concepts, procedures, and terminology across a range of disciplines, including law and project management.
- Proficiency in research methodologies, including electronic resources, with the ability to analyse and synthesise information effectively.
- Ability to deliver clear and concise recommendations, results, and opinions in written and verbal formats.
- Demonstrates professionalism, persistence, and resilience in addressing project challenges and meeting deadlines.
The ability to work in a development country, ability to work under pressure; ability to apply good judgment in the context of assignments given. Shows pride in work and in achievements; demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines, and achieving results; is motivated by professional rather than personal concerns; shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations; working experience in Southeast Asia is an asset.

Education:
University degree in law or other relevant field is required.
