Overview:

IBTCI is seeking an experienced Quantitative Data Analyst to support UNICEF evaluation activities in the West and Central Africa region. The consultant will lead statistical design, sampling strategies, and analysis across various evaluations, ensuring robust and rigorous quantitative methods that align with UNEG and UNICEF standards. This position may involve remote support and potential field deployment.

Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Design and validate statistically sound sampling plans (random, stratified, cluster) tailored to evaluation context and sector.
  • Support instrument design and digitization using survey platforms (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK).
  • Conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analysis using SPSS, Stata, R, SAS, or similar software.
  • Develop – with the team – analysis plans, codebooks, and quality control protocols for enumerators and data managers.
  • Lead data cleaning, validation, and triangulation processes across datasets.
  • Collaborate with team members to integrate quantitative findings with qualitative insights
  • Draft data analysis sections of inception and final reports.
  • Ensure disaggregation of data by gender, age, location, and other relevant equity markers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s or higher in statistics, economics, epidemiology, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in quantitative analysis and evaluation.
  • Experience conducting surveys and analysis in low-resource or humanitarian settings.
  • Demonstrated use of SPSS, R, or Stata in evaluations or applied research.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF evaluation standards and ethical guidance.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in English required; working knowledge of French or Portuguese desirable
  • Experience conducting evaluations in Western and Central Africa strongly preferred.
  • Ability to visualize findings using dashboards or summary graphics.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and data presentation skills.

Working Environment:

Remote with international travel up to 25%, including to field and hard-to-reach locations.

Work Authorization:

Must be authorized to work in the consultant’s country of residence. IBTCI does not sponsor visas for consultants.
