GGGI works with countries around the world, building their capacity and working collaboratively on green growth policies that can impact the lives of millions. The organization partners with countries, multilateral institutions, government bodies, and private sectors to help build economies that grow strongly and are more efficient and sustainable in the use of natural resources, less carbon intensive, and more resilient to climate change.
GGGI has a diverse portfolio of programs in developing countries around the world. These in-country programs, together with global products and services, focus on delivering results through an integrated approach of evidence-based green growth planning and implementation aligned to countries’ development priorities. The organization also focuses on knowledge development and management activities which build a strong theoretical and empirical basis for green growth, while providing concrete options and guidance for policymakers; as well as building the conditions for public and private green infrastructure investments.
GGGI commenced operations in the Pacific since 2014, and it now has programs and projects in five member countries including Papua New Guinea (PNG), Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga and Kiribati and in three partner countries namely Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu. GGGI is also present in other Pacific Island Countries (PICs) in the Southern and Northern Pacific. The partnership between GGGI and PICs is built on supporting their transition towards low carbon, environmentally sustainable, climate resilient and socially inclusive economies. As in 2025, GGGI Pacific Region has 32 active projects and the number of total staff is expected to grow to 140 by end of 2025.
The Office of the Regional Director is based in Suva, Fiji, and is responsible for leading and coordinating the Pacific Regional Program and projects and managing its growing Pacific staff and regional office staff with the support of three Country Representatives and Pacific Regional Program Leads. The role includes setting the strategic direction for the Pacific Region in line with GGGI’s Refreshed Strategy 2030 and priorities and the ambition and priorities of member and partner governments, donors and development partners.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate to the Pacific Regional Director (PRD) will provide high-level executive, administrative and logistical support to the PRD. The role will ensure the efficient and effective operation of the PRD’s Office to lead, coordinate and manage the integrated processes and operations of the PRD Office and country-wide programs, projects and activities in the Pacific Region. This role is critical in ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of GGGI and Pacific through effective communication, operational coordination, and capacity development.
The position oversees complex internal and external interactions, manages cross-divisional activities, and provides support in portfolio management, risk mitigation and results reporting. Acting as a key liaison between the PRD, Pacific Regional team and country teams, the position ensures seamless execution of Pacific Regional objectives and supports the development of institutional processes for improved efficiency and service delivery. The successful candidate will be proactive, highly organized, discreet and able to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced, multicultural and challenging environment.
PURPOSE
The Associate to the PRD ensures the effective delivery of key responsibilities which include but are not limited to:
Strategic Communication and Coordination:
Manage complex internal and external communications on behalf of the PRD, engaging with senior government representatives, development partners, and private sector actors.
Organize and optimize the PRD’s schedules, balancing competing priorities, resolving conflicts and ensuring timely follow-up on key decisions and commitments.
Provide comprehensive support for the PRD’s missions, including preparation of briefing notes, background documents, strategic communications materials and managing post-mission follow-ups.
Portfolio Management and Capacity Development:
Provide coordination and administrative support to Pacific portfolio management, including maintaining updated records of project KPIs, contributing to quarterly progress reports, and tracking action items across key deliverables.
Support the organization and documentation of internal capacity-building activities, such as project management training sessions and knowledge-sharing events.
Assist in the preparation of project planning and reporting materials, including PowerPoint slides, templates, and simple policy notes.
Support monitoring of project timelines and reporting schedules, working closely with country teams to collect information and follow up on pending input.
Process Optimization and Innovation:
Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements across project and administrative processes.
Act as Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Team, coordinating actions and supporting implementation of project quality improvements.
Support integration of cross-divisional best practices and standardize workflows across the region.
ENGAGEMENT
Advise and Support
Extract, compile, and organize background and briefing materials to support the Pacific Regional Director’s participation in internal and external meetings, missions, and regional activities.
Assist in preparing talking points, agendas, and related documentation in coordination with relevant teams and partners.
Provide guidance to administrative and support staff within the Pacific Region on standard procedures, templates, and formats for internal communication and documentation.
Review and ensure consistency and quality in outgoing correspondence, presentations, and reports from the PRD’s office.
Support information-sharing across country teams by facilitating regular communication and helping track action items and decisions.
Maintain well-organized records of meetings, regional initiatives, and stakeholder engagements to support transparency and follow-up.
DELIVERY
Sustain Standards
Organize and coordinate delivery of day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Pacific Regional Director in close consultation with team members and country staff.
Assist in scheduling and logistics for regional meetings, workshops, and missions, ensuring timely preparation of materials and follow-up on action items.
Monitor and track deadlines related to portfolio reporting, travel plans, and key deliverables to support smooth operations across the region.
Review and support standard office procedures and processes within the PRD’s office and suggest practical improvements to better align with GGGI’s operational systems.
Maintain accurate records related to leave, travel, expense reports, and documentation flow to ensure compliance with GGGI’s policies.
Help ensure data quality and consistency in GGGI’s online platforms by performing basic checks and coordinating with country teams for updates and corrections.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, Business Management, International Relations, or a related field. A master’s degree is desirable.
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible administrative and operational experience, ideally in international organizations or development cooperation.
Proven experience supporting senior executives in fast-paced, multicultural settings.
Fluency in English (oral and written) is required; knowledge of Pacific languages is an advantage.
FUNCTIONAL
Strong portfolio and project management skills with demonstrated experience in results-based planning and reporting.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and experience with ERP systems and data dashboards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of strategic documents, presentations, and briefing notes.
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to build capacity in teams and lead cross-functional initiatives.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The Associate to Pacific Regional Director is an X6 national grade level in GGGI's salary scale. For X6 national grade, the base salary starts from USD 19,573. Determination of base salary is subject to the candidate's experience, academic background, and internal equity. GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.
