Description

CARE is seeking a strategic, detail-oriented Principal Giving Manager to join our Principal Giving team and help advance our mission by supporting our most transformative donor relationships. This is a high-impact role that partners directly with senior fundraisers and executive leadership to drive customized engagement strategies for ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family foundations, and anonymous donors. The ideal candidate brings a blend of donor-centric strategy, operational excellence, and a high-touch service mindset to ensure a seamless and sophisticated donor experience.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Donor Engagement (45%)

  • Collaborate with Principal Gift Officers to develop and implement tailored donor engagement plans that align with CARE’s priorities and donor interests.
  • Manage outreach calendars and proactively recommend cultivation and stewardship touchpoints.
  • Oversee the preparation and quality assurance of all donor-facing materials, ensuring content is polished, personalized, and aligned with each donor’s style and expectations.
  • Conduct or coordinate in-depth donor research to support strategy development and engagement planning.

Executive-Level Meeting & Event Support (25%)

  • Coordinate logistics for high-level donor meetings, virtual engagements, and site visits, including briefings, agendas, and materials.
  • Draft post-meeting notes, action items, and follow-up communications with professionalism, discretion, and timeliness.
  • Support the design and execution of VIP donor experiences that reflect CARE’s values and deepen philanthropic relationships.

Portfolio & Pipeline Management (25%)

  • Maintain up-to-date donor records in Salesforce, tracking interactions, giving history, and next steps.
  • Monitor donor pipelines, flag data needs or gaps, and work cross-functionally to ensure accuracy and timely follow-through.
  • Liaise with operations teams to ensure gifts—especially complex contributions (e.g., DAFs, stock, family foundations)—are recorded, receipted, and stewarded appropriately.

Cross-Team Collaboration & Special Projects (5%)

  • Contribute to team-wide initiatives, process improvements, and strategic projects that enhance the efficiency and impact of the Principal Giving program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4–6 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, high-level donor relations, or executive support; background working with UHNW donors and philanthropic institutions strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or partnering with C-suite executives, board members, or senior fundraisers.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong eye for detail and donor-centric messaging.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce (or other CRM platforms), Microsoft Office Suite, and project management tools.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities with discretion and professionalism.

Why Join Us?

At CARE, you’ll be part of a dynamic, mission-driven team that works at the intersection of global development and philanthropy. This is an opportunity to help shape donor relationships that fund programs reaching millions of lives—and to contribute to one of the world’s most respected humanitarian organizations.
