Overall Objective
The Communication officer will enhance EE’s digital presence by developing and managing engaging, gender-sensitive content across social media platforms and the organization’s website. The role is critical to amplifying the voices of women, documenting EE’s work, promoting advocacy campaigns, and ensuring a strong and consistent brand identity in the digital space.
Key Responsibilities
1. Social Media Management
a. Planning and Strategy
- Develop a monthly content plan aligned with EE’s communication strategy.
- Analyze target audiences and trends to tailor content to each platform (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn).
- Plan and implement advocacy and awareness campaigns.
b. Content Creation
- Write original, inclusive, and context-sensitive posts in Arabic and English.
- Coordinate with the graphic designer (or use tools like Canva) to create visual content (images, infographics, short videos).
- Support field teams in collecting and publishing stories, quotes, and testimonials.
c. Publishing and Scheduling
- Use scheduling tools like Meta Business Suite, Buffer, or Hootsuite.
- Ensure content is posted in a timely manner with proper hashtags, tagging, and formatting.
d. Community Engagement
- Respond to comments and inbox messages in alignment with EE’s engagement policies.
- Monitor public discussions related to EE’s causes and campaigns.
- Identify and flag harmful or abusive content and apply EE’s digital protection protocols.
e. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Prepare monthly social media analytics reports (reach, engagement, follower growth).
- Recommend adjustments based on performance indicators and trends.
2. Website Management
a. Content Updates
- Regularly upload new reports, project updates, job vacancies, and press releases.
- Coordinate with the Programs Team to ensure accurate and timely information.
b. User Experience
- Organize website content for ease of navigation and user engagement.
- Ensure all downloadable materials and links are working properly.
c. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Use relevant keywords in titles and metadata for improved visibility.
- Optimize content descriptions and alt texts.
d. Technical Oversight
- Coordinate with the web developer to resolve technical issues or implement updates.
- Ensure regular website backups and basic maintenance (in collaboration with IT).
3. Support to Digital Campaigns and Advocacy
- Contribute to the design and implementation of digital campaigns (e.g., 16 Days of Activism, International Women’s Day).
- Create short educational videos or Reels in coordination with the communications team.
- Maintain consistency in digital visual identity and feminist values.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Media, Digital Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing social media and websites.
- Prior experience working with civil society, women led, or human rights organizations is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong writing and editing skills in Arabic and English.
- Excellent command of social media platforms and analytics tools.
- Familiarity with visual tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite is a plus).
- Basic understanding of WordPress or similar CMS.
- Sensitivity to gender issues, digital safety, and conflict dynamics.
