Job Description

The purpose of this activity is to finalize and deliver a 12-month integrated education and skills training program, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and life skills for 6000 young women and 1000 young men (age 15-35). It will also provide learners with hands-on training in the following market relevant vocation skills: agriculture, childcare, fisheries, solar energy, community health work, and connecting learners with employers or guiding them towards entrepreneurship opportunities at the end of the project. The activities will be implemented in the Banadir region of Somalia.

Education Development Center (EDC) is seeking a seasoned Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Specialist to develop and implement effective capacity-strengthening approaches for adult learners, young women, and organizations in the Banadir region of Somalia.

Candidates shall have at a minimum the following qualifications:

Qualifications

Education:

Advanced degree in Engineering, Education, Economics or related field.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical and vocational education strengthening, workforce development, women's skills development, and youth development, in Somalia or countries with similar contexts.
  • Experience developing and implementing effective capacity-strengthening models and approaches for organizations and individuals.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the economic, and educational contexts of women and youth in Somalia.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including, Government departments, donors, the private sector, and community-based institutions.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills including conflict resolution abilities.

Language:

Excellent communication in both English and Somali.
