ESG & Social Safeguards Officer

Your role:

The ESG & Social Safeguards Officer will be a Paris-based, full-time member of our ESG team, working alongside senior ESG leadership on the preparation, structuring, and quality assurance of E&S safeguard documentation for development projects in emerging markets. This is a mid-career position designed for a professional with proven experience in implementing and delivering ESG safeguards in line with international lender standards. The role has a strong emphasis on social performance, human rights and resettlement, while also contributing to integrated environmental and social deliverables. You will play a key role in ensuring outputs are lender-ready, and coordinate contributions from multidisciplinary teams to meet tight deadlines in large-scale infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

·        Lead the preparation of E&S safeguard documentation in line with IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and World Bank EHS Guidelines.

·        Take the lead on social performance components, including Social Impact Assessments, Resettlement Action Plans (RAP), Livelihood Restoration Plans (LRP), Human Rights Risk Assessments (HRRAs) and Stakeholder Engagement Plans (SEP).

·        Conduct ESG risk assessments for lender-facing deliverables and ensure alignment with DFI expectations.

·        Perform QA/QC of ESG deliverables and coordinate inputs from multidisciplinary teams.

·        Provide technical ESG advice to integrate lender requirements into practical implementation roadmaps.

Qualifications:

·        5 years’ professional experience in ESG/E&S delivery for development projects with international financing.

·        Proven experience working with IFC PS, Equator Principles, and other international safeguards frameworks.

·        Strong social and resettlement expertise (RAP, LRP, SEP) with ability to integrate into broader ESG deliverables.

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.

·        Demonstrated ability to produce lender-ready deliverables with minimal oversight.

·        Strong project management skills, including coordination of multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
