We are looking for a Gender Expert for ADB funded Education Infrastructure assignment is Solomon Islands

Total engagment duration is 6 months. 

It is home based position with 3-4 visit to project site each for a duration of 7-10 days. 

Qualification and experience requied as below

  • Degree and professional qualification from a recognized institution in gender studies, development studies, anthropology, sociology or related field.
  • 12 years of general experience in gender equality projects
  • 5 years of experience in gender responsive infrastructure/disability and socially inclusive infrastructure designs.
  • Experience in the Pacific region preferred

Roles and responsibilities of Gender Specialist : 

The International Gender Specialist will be responsible to ensure compliance with the gender action plan (GAP) under the project. Specifically, the Gender Specialist will undertake the following tasks (but not be limited to):
(i) Work closely with the Architects and Engineers and the Social Inclusion Specialist to advise and ensure design of infrastructures are gender-responsive and inclusive.
(ii) Carryout dialogues/consultations with students, school leaders, parents, students, and other stakeholders on how to reduce barriers and maximize benefits for all end users when designing and implementing infrastructure projects.
(iii) Coordinate and support the PMU to implement the GAP.
(iv) Develop the monitoring framework, establish monitoring schedules and reporting mechanisms to ensure infrastructures are constructed in accordance with the approved plans and designs that are gender-responsive and inclusive.
(v) Prepare reports on the implementation progress of gender-responsive and inclusive infrastructures.
