About the Role

The Finance and Project Officer will provide essential support to an ARK Syria project, contributing to the financial, administrative and operational support to the project.

What you'll be doing

Financial Management

  • Prepare, review, and monitor project budgets and forecasts.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with organisational policies and donor requirements.
  • Process payments, manage cash flows, and reconcile accounts.
  • Support procurement processes, ensuring compliance with financial and audit standards.
  • Produce regular financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Project Support & Administration

  • Assist with project planning, monitoring, and reporting cycles.
  • Track project deliverables and expenditure against budget.
  • Support grant management, including compliance with donor rules and audit preparation.
  • Coordinate with logistics and HR to ensure smooth project operations.
  • Liaise with field staff and partners to consolidate programme data and documentation.

Donor Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure financial and administrative procedures meet donor and legal requirements.
  • Prepare donor financial reports and support narrative reporting with financial data.
  • Maintain proper archiving of financial and contractual documents.

Security & Risk Management

  • Act as a focal point for ensuring staff have access to security-related support for financial and logistical operations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to organisational security policies and procedures.
  • Monitor expenditure on security-related costs and maintain security budget lines.
  • Contribute to security risk assessments from a finance/project perspective (e.g., cash handling, asset management, staff travel).
  • Ensure financial and project operations incorporate risk mitigation measures (e.g., secure payments, supplier vetting).

Requirements
Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial/project management (INGO or humanitarian sector preferred).
  • Knowledge of donor regulations (e.g., FCDO, UN, USAID).
  • Strong skills in budget monitoring, reporting, and compliance.
  • Familiarity with security considerations in high-risk operating environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • High integrity, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial management software.
