About STOOS Consulting
STOOS Consulting is an international research and evaluation firm registered in Kenya, Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Ukraine, Libya, Nigeria, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, Honduras, and other countries. We deliver high-quality consulting across livelihoods, health, education, protection, climate resilience, governance, and humanitarian response. Our work is grounded in evidence-based and participatory methods, with a strong commitment to ethical and inclusive research. We support NGOs, UN agencies, and donors across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and other regions—including contexts like El Salvador.

Position
Field Manager (El Salvador-based) — supporting an upcoming assignment in El Salvador by overseeing field operations and ensuring the successful implementation of data collection activities, with a focus on local context navigation, community engagement, logistics, safeguarding, and data quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead fieldwork logistics and execution across El Salvador (e.g., San Salvador, La Libertad, Santa Ana, Sonsonate, Ahuachapán, La Paz, San Vicente, Usulután, San Miguel, Morazán, La Unión, Chalatenango, Cuscatlán, Cabañas), ensuring alignment with local regulations and community protocols.
  • Recruit, supervise, and support enumerator teams to deliver high-quality, ethical, and timely data collection in urban, peri-urban, and rural settings nationwide.
  • Coordinate participant mobilization with local stakeholders, including Government of El Salvador authorities, municipal governments (alcaldías), community leaders, and partner NGOs.
  • Conduct spot checks, field monitoring, and troubleshooting; proactively manage security, access, mobility, and weather challenges (e.g., rainy season/road conditions).
  • Ensure accurate reporting of field progress to the STOOS coordination team; provide contextual insights to strengthen analysis and reporting.
  • Uphold safeguarding, informed consent, Do-No-Harm, and data protection standards at all times.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • 3+ years managing fieldwork for research, surveys, or M&E assignments in El Salvador.
  • Proven experience supervising enumerators across multi-site or complex contexts; strong track record in community engagement.
  • Fluency in Spanish (El Salvador) is essential; professional English required for coordination and reporting; Náhuat is an asset.
  • Hands-on use of digital data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO) and integration into analysis workflows.
  • Ability to manage teams under tight timelines and adapt to changing logistical and security dynamics.
  • Valid work authorization in El Salvador and ability to travel domestically as needed; clean professional references.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), and ethical research norms.
