Position: Climate Change Specialist
We are looking for an experienced Climate Change Specialist to contribute to international assignments focused on low-carbon and climate-resilient urban mobility. Key Responsibilities
The Climate Change Specialist will be expected to:
- Conduct Climate Risk and Adaptation Assessments (CRA) in line with international best practice, analyzing historic trends and model-based projections, assessing system vulnerabilities, and recommending costed adaptation measures for design and operations.
- Prepare Climate Change Assessments using the latest IFI/ADB templates: summarize CRA findings, scope/assess additional mitigation measures, and calculate GHG reduction potential.
- Estimate mitigation/adaptation climate finance in line with joint MDB methodologies and common principles; ensure documentation suitable for financing partner review.
- Quantify project GHG emissions and relative emissions following approved transport-sector guidance, coordinating data inputs across the technical team.
- Support Paris-alignment assessments for operations, documenting assumptions, risks, and compliance with applicable guidance.
- Prepare clear, concise deliverables (e.g., CRA and Climate Change Assessment reports) and contribute to stakeholder presentations and internal quality reviews.
Candidate Requirements
- Education: University degree in environmental science, urban/transport planning, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in climate change analysis for infrastructure/urban transport, including preparation of CRA and related assessments for IFI-financed projects (e.g., ADB, EBRD, WB, EU).
- Technical skills: Demonstrated ability to (i) design and deliver CRA; (ii) apply recognized GHG accounting methods for transport; (iii) assess mitigation and adaptation options with costings; and (iv) apply MDB climate-finance tracking principles.
- Soft skills: Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills in English; strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
