Job Description
As a Junior Tax Consultant/Senior Tax Consultant, it is expected that you will use your skills and experience to manage assignments and client relationships. You will have the opportunity to consult with clients on a variety of tax issues, and it is expected that you will keep up to date with the latest business and current affairs to supplement your technical skills. You will be responsible for coaching more junior staff (consulting and graduates) to help them achieve their goals. You will also review and manage their work.

This role requires you to deliver innovative thinking, strategic perspectives, and insightful analysis to assist clients in making informed decisions on complex issues. You will be responsible for providing high-quality service, fostering strong relationships with a diverse portfolio of tax clients across various industry sectors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Producing well-researched tax opinions
  • Developing relationships with clients and targets to gain an understanding of their businesses, and identify strategies of value for those clients
  • Managing multiple engagements of varying size and scope
  • Advising clients on tax compliance, planning, and overall generalist tax advisory
  • Preparing and reviewing tax returns 
  • Reviewing tax effect accounting calculations and financial statement tax disclosures
  • Providing guidance and mentoring to teammates and to junior tax consultants
  • Working to find solutions to complex problems
  • Identifying potential opportunities for existing clients and targets through applying your expertise and current business acumen
  • Representing KPMG at client, industry and professional body events

Qualifications
Will possess and be able to demonstrate several of the following skills and behaviors: 

  • A tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Accounting, Law, or a related field.
  •  Previous corporate tax experience in either Big 4 or middle tier firm
  • Solid tax compliance, planning and tax advisory experience 
  • Successful completion or currently studying a Masters of Tax or CA or CPA qualification
  • Legal and/or commerce degree (desirable)
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to motivate and lead teams to achieving an outcome
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A true leadership approach and previous experience mentoring junior tax consultants
  • An honest and ethical approach to business which will provide a natural fit with KPMG’s value

technical skills

  • Advanced Tax Knowledge: In-depth understanding of complex tax laws and regulations, with the ability to apply this knowledge to diverse client scenarios.
  • Strategic Advisory: Expertise in providing strategic tax advice and solutions to clients, including high-level planning and structuring.
  • Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills to manage and mentor junior staff and oversee multiple projects and teams.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and develop effective tax strategies.
  • Client Relationship Management: Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and trust.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex tax concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in managing large-scale projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
