Geneva Call is a neutral and impartial non‑governmental organization dedicated to promoting respect by armed groups and transitional authorities for international humanitarian norms in armed conflict and other situations of violence, in particular those related to the protection of civilians. Geneva Call is headquartered in Geneva and works in 15 countries in South-East and Central Asia, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
Geneva Call has been working in Syria for over a decade. The fall of the Assad regime in December 2024 marks a transformative new chapter for the country. Looking to the future, Geneva Call is engaging with the transitional government and other key local actors, including civil society, to promote awareness of, and compliance with, humanitarian norms.
The Communications Officer plays a crucial role in developing and implementing Geneva Call’s communication and advocacy strategy in Syria. Working directly with country teams and with support from communications staff in HQ, the Officer produces and disseminates context-relevant content, manages local digital platforms, coordinates outreach and visibility activities, and strengthens internal and external communication flows. This position contributes to Geneva Call’s core mission of improving awareness of humanitarian norms by duty-bearers and civilians by commissioning and creating innovative and thought-provoking content and thematic campaigns on the primacy of the protection of civilians for social and traditional media. This position will also help to amplify Geneva Call’s organizational visibility while ensuring consistent, timely, and quality communication outputs from the field.
Reporting to the Head of Programmes and working closely with communications staff in HQ and with local partners, and external service providers.
