Job Title: Light Touch Evaluation Case Study, Local Research Associate Consultant – Senegal

Overview: The Senegal Research Associate will collect contextual data to support the evaluation’s comparative analysis of Unitaid’s investments in Francophone West Africa. The associate will gather targeted insights on HPV testing implementation, thermal ablation uptake, provider capacity, and community acceptability. Given Senegal’s expanding women’s health platform and decentralized service delivery, the associate will document operational realities across both Dakar-based and regional implementation actors.
Key Responsibilities
Review Senegal’s cervical cancer guidelines, HPV testing pilot documents, and Unitaid partner reports.
Conduct interviews (French and Wolof as needed) with the Ministry of Health, regional health officers, implementing partners, and NGOs.
Collect information on training systems, device deployment, supply chain considerations, and facility capacity.
Document community engagement practices and women’s perspectives through local organizations.
Provide a synthesis of key contextual enablers and barriers affecting screening and treatment delivery.
Produce a Senegal country brief (4–6 pages) summarizing contextual findings.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in public health, sociology, or health systems research.
Deep understanding of Senegal’s health system, including regional medical offices and district-level implementation.
Fluency in French required; Wolof strongly preferred.
8-15 years of experience conducting interviews with government officials and civil society actors.
Strong ability to synthesize qualitative insights across multiple administrative levels.
Experience in SRH, women’s health, or community mobilization preferred.
Education:?An advanced degree in a relevant field across the social sciences
Working Environment:?Work is performed in a typical corporate office environment or remotely.
Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that required the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibility:?This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
